68D9A346-3225-4BB4-AF54-185067B0B07C.jpg Fellas! What would you do?

I’ve been daily driving my 2003 ac with 240k runs like a top no major rust all is good in the hood. I like the smaller seats in the back because I can’t take more people with me.

I just bought a 2006 dc with 290k miles. It’s super clean mostly freeway miles no major rust it’ll need an alignment or tie rods (has inner tire wear) and a new muffler (has a hole in it) after that it’s a golden.

my wife obviously won’t let me keep both which would you want to keep?

Obviously, the one she isn't driving daily. See how that works? Problem solved. :fistbump:

Given these choices, I would pick the trucks over the wife.

Not that I would normally listen to Johnny Depp but he did say something that rings true once, and I'll butcher this quote from memory: "If you find yourself in love with two women, go with the second one because you were never really in love with the first one."

Well, why did you buy the DC? If it had something you wanted that the AC didn't have, there's your answer. If it was just a smoking deal and an impulse buy, then weigh out which one works better for you.

For myself, I rarely wish I had more room in my access cab. I also like that nobody wants me to drive them anywhere. I've had my truck seemingly forever, so if I found myself in your shoes I would sell the double cab and keel the truck I've known so well for 14 years.

I might be the wrong person to ask, but I'd keep 'em both. Never hurts to have a backup Tundra. It might help your wife to know that she wouldn't be the first wife to allow a two truck program.

You have a truck with 50k less miles that you like, with a known history versus a truck with 50k more miles and unknown history. Plus you don't need the extra room the DC back seat gives you. I think you answered your own question, but as a DC owner here are some the items you may want to consider.

DC has the emission air pumps under the intake manifold. Known failure item that will put truck into limp mode. $1500 dealer repair. Hewitt bypass does work for $200 or so I think.

DC has sealed transmission, not dipstick. Can be a pain in the azz to monitor if you start seeing drips on driveway or leaks around the pan.

DC has the funky three part master cylinder that is a $900 oem part when it fails.

Never drove an AC, but the turning radius on the DC is horrible.

DC has the VVt engine. Cam seals are near impossible for a DIY'er to change so if you start getting oil on your timing belt there's another $2k at the dealer. Seals on the AC are not nearly as complicated.

There are multiple threads on each of these issues you can read to familiarize yourself. Good luck.

Y’all have some super valid points the dc is definitely more expensive as far as maintenance goes. The dc I bought at a deal (I believe) 4500 bucks so I just impulsively bought it. I hate to say it but I’m a Toyota whore I have a 2014 tundra, these 2 1st “gems” and a 07 rav4 (for the wife). Man if it was possible maybe keep them haha

everyone’s on the ditch the wife haha

Not too bad, you might be in a position to make money off the DC. Take that money, give the AC some TLC and a second lease on life.

I was just about to say the same. Assuming the frame isn't rusty he should be able to flip it for a profit.

a guy down the street sold it to me he was the second owner used it for sales driving. The original owner used it to pull a horse trailer so it has airbags and rear sway bar and trailer brakes.

I’d say it’s in overall good condition it has surface rust on the frame but nothing serious it’s been maintained pretty well.

At minimum, I'd be interested in entertaining the idea, but I'm thinking freight may be the killer.

I'm going to start getting more serious about pinging some of these dudes on CL selling their '04-'06 AC trucks with nice ones to see if they'll part ways for $200-300, I'll do all the work. I'm sure someone will eventually bite....

    Probably.

They'll probably ship greyhound too. They do large items under 150lbs iirc. I shipped both a transmission and a differential that way before.

Yes, for the wife who let's him own 3 vehicles when she's only got one. :D

Truthfully, you don't need two 4 door trucks. I'd sell the DC and keep the AC or just give the wife the DC and now you both have 2 vehicles.
