The Wild Turkey Longbranch is surprisingly good. Definitely good as a regular sipper.

It's like ammo. Buy it while it's cheap.

Cheap ammo still exists?! I paid 9$ for a box of 20ga target rounds and was ecstatic.

Picked this up today. Not a huge Rye guy, but wanted some more BT in my cabinet.

I saw some wild turkey long branch too and thought pretty heavily about picking it up. Maybe next time.

Same here on ryes and have had this too, but I find the Manhattans are better and more traditional with rye.

Heading down to Scottsdale, AZ the end of this month for a little warm sun time. Any good liquor stores above the rest?!? I should probably lookup what I can transport back home on the flight too I guess.

Oh man. So many. Trevors is a must. PITCH is a restaurant that has pretty great barrel picks. Phoenix City Grille isn't too far and has great food/bourbon. Bourbon/Bones if you're looking for something fancy. White Chocolate Grille has a pretty good bourbon list as well.

Next time you go for a rye spend a lot more and get the Whistle Pig 10 year. I'm not a rye fan either but WP makes me second guess myself.. People rave about Sazerac, but it doesn't hold a candle to Whistle Pig. Still worth buying when you find the Sazerac though!

I'll take your word for it, the only other WP comments I have seen stated it was over rated. I'll add it to my list to look out for!

If a Rye your looking for, Alberta Rye Dark Batch. Quite good and not expensive. A lot of Whistle Pig is brought in from Canada.

So my BIL and I have a bit of a whiskey club going on. We have some dues paying members and we chip in for some more expe sive bottles that we haven't tried before.

One of the first things we did was a rye taster. We had several varieties, including the Whistle Pig 10 year and the Sazerac. I believe also a Michters, a Redemption, a Bulleit, and a couple others I don't recall.. the group overwhelmingly voted the WP to be the best. Sazerac came in second, but in my opinion the Whistle Pig was way out in front.

Taste is subjective and I get that. This was just our experience. Reviews were mixed for the others but the group chose what it chose.

We have often picked a cheap whiskey over a more expensive competitor so I don't think price was a factor.

Take this as you will.. if you don't like rye a $80 bottle probably is a waste of $$ anyway.

That's good feedback, you can never trust the talking heads on youtube anyway. There are a few of those bottles near me, so maybe I'll run into one. I appreciate the reccomendation and explanation!

My fav ryes are sagamore double oak rye, pikesville rye, and stellum rye. I don’t consider myself a big rye guy but those are great.

Wasn't really looking but I had some bottles someone else wanted and this is what he offered so figured why the hell not.
Put an offer in on a house Tuesday - this guy may be getting cracked open very soon pending how that goes.

Thanks man, but oh yes, it's insane - kind of gave up on the search in July-ish of last year after being beat out on every house but my realtor sent me a house that looked too good not to put an offer in on.

I picked up another Rare breed today, the DABC (utah) took it off their website, so I was worried they were going to stop carrying it.
