door lock

    my door lock is getting warn my key does not go in smoothly and the key is hard to turn
    can i swap it out with tailgate cylinder?

    Have you tried some wd-40? Use the straw end to spray into the lock cylinder, insert and remove your key a few times and then try to tune the lock. You may just have some dirt or grime in there that needs a bit of convincing…..

    Juat make sure you wipe it off the paint quickly if it runs down the door

    good to know….I have been using wd-40 on my 1990 wrangler. I will try graphite next time

    WD-40 can leave a residue that can hold dirt. It also can gum up over time.

    I never realized that. Learn something new everyday! Appreciate that and am going to stop at the hardware store and grab some graphite. I had used it on bike gears / chains previously as well

    I used to use WD-40 for everything outside of the bedroom until a locksmith buddy found out about it. I think he went home and cried.:smack:
