this is probably super old news to most. maybe this is a day one earlier gen feature. but i stumbled across something that i had to share in the event that some others didn't know.

i seem to frequently find myself getting blasted in the eyes by the sun just behind the visor when i have it pushed to the left. wah. part of living on this planet. wish there was a solution...

    upload_2022-1-30_17-31-33.jpg

the other day i was looking for a clip or somewhere to put my registration/insurance cards. clip on the visor...'slide'? wtf 'slides'?

    upload_2022-1-30_17-32-45.jpg

    Woo hoo! slide technology!!!

Pretty sure every vehicle I've owned for the past 15+ years has done this, but glad to see the new Tundra does it too...I guess...?

That ain't nuthin. My late Father in Law bought a new Mercury Marquis Brogham new in 1985. 30 years passed before I drove him somewhere in his low mileage pristine car and I popped open the wing window. He never knew that little window opened. I think at that point he thought his daughter married a freaking genius.

When I was a kid, we had a Mercedes with a miniature sun visor above the rear view mirror. Freaking baller.

My wife's 99 Audi had a similar feature, it just popped down from behind the mirror to cover the gap between the visors, unfortunately we didn't discover it till we had 163K on the car. We both laughed when I said "boy, they would've been nice to know 160,000 miles ago".

Alternately, our SUV has dual visors on each side which is nice on winding roads. The main visor can go either to the front or side, theres another visor above it that we can flip down to cover the front when the main one is flipped to cover the side window.

The metal bar is where you connect your tow strap.

My wife's 2011 prius didn't have this and I swore I'd never let anyone I know purchase a vehicle without it. Absolutely critical feature.

I used to slide pieces of paper in the window channel to provide relief on trips.

This "new" discovery has been brought up more than once before. My '13 has always had the sliding visor. I figured they all did.

    or use maybe some sunglasses?

if you have to wear prescription i would suggest something like this with polarized clip on's in bronze tint (the dark grey tint doesnt work so well during sunset hours transition. or if you are lucky and live in the south you could use transitions glasses. not to great up north were the cold affects the transitions dark/light speed transition.

Yeah, I wear sunglasses pretty much constantly. Honestly, I just like the Rosen visors cause they're used on aircraft. Realistically, the Toyota visors work just fine.

well i can see the reason on aircraft, not so much on cars.

its the just price to return value just isnt there. the cost to add polarized clip on to my prescription glasses is $50. kinda hard to beat that cost wise.
