A quick Saturday morning OpEd, if I may, to simply say this is arguably the best thread of this whole blog portal.

Really good commentary and opinions written by caring customers (current or prospective).

    Touché!!

ps - now fix the fucking problem, Toyota!!

The Lexus LS turbo is different from the Tundra so you can interchange them. The compressor flow will likely be completely different. This is can seen from the differences in engine torque between the LS and Tundra. Likely the LX600 has the same turbo as Tundra but manufactured elsewhere closer to the engine factory in Japan.

Curious as to where you get 8.2 from. I have 33’s that are heavy AF and a heavy foot, I average about 13.

Literal terms around here now? :D
The simple truth is that most folks who want a gen 3 truck don't give a sh t about Gen 1, 2 or 2.5 owner's rhetoric. I'm a bit of an exception as I personally enjoy the banter, but nothing these guys say really sways the gen 3 majority one way or another.
Have been driving a Toyota truck in some form for 40 years. Someone behind a keyboard who owns and drives dated technology isn't going to influence me with a meme or bashing on a newly-released truck. It may evoke a laugh or two however.

The majority of us moving on to a gen 3, myself included, still own a prior gen tundra. And newsflash *we don't care.*
What we do care about is the constant bitching and bandwidth utilized here by those who have no interest in what this particular forum is dedicated to. Move on already.

Ok. I’m not quite sure what point you’re trying to make but that’s ok because I don’t care.

it could be nothing honestly. I am running a throttle body from a 5.7L Land Cruiser in my 4.6L Lexus GX. Two different part numbers and yet the two are visually identical and function completely fine interchanged.

From a purely financial perspective, this is probably the best advice in the entire forum!

From the "you only live once" perspective, do whatever makes you happy! As far as we know you only get one shot at life. Get as much enjoyment out of it as you can.

They do this all the time, come out with new part numbers, but in actuality, it is the same part.

The new Toyota GR86 / Subaru BRZ is the same deal, most mechanical parts are identical, but carry a different part number since it is a “new” generation.

Saw the strangest thing today on the Florida turnpike. I'm headed north fighting a strong headwind going 75 and was passed by a new 22 Tundra. Shocked, I was. According to the interwebz this truck should have either been in the dealer with the cab elevated, on a rollback headed to the dealer to have the cab removed or going 10 MPH in limp mode headed to the dealer to have cab removed. Darn If I didn't see a Tesla getting loaded on a rollback.:crapstorm:

I mean we’re all speculating here. They may be the same but they may also be completely different. One thing is apparent, the price difference is probably related to volume. The US volume of Tundra is like 100x of the LS500 world volume so there is a significant volume discount on 300k turbos/year vs. 3k turbos/year. If they’re the same, LS turbo price will go down.

EDIT: Tundra’s turbo is an IHI VB45 by the way, it’s stamped on the turbo with the part number.

I must be lucky. I’m on my 2nd Tesla. This one has 40k miles in 20 months. Shit… had to replace tires once.

So if an engine has a turbo it wasn’t built correctly?

That’s the kind of ignorant ass nonsense I expect to hear from uneducated morons.

Was the Rolls Royce Merlin built incorrectly?

Maybe the Pratt & Whitney Double Wasp series were turds too?

All commonly used Diesel engines these days are also not built correctly?

Then again you drive a truck with a fake hood scoop, so I guess we should expect such comments.

let’s not start the talk about how much education one has, you will lose. but I would not by anything built by someone like you, cuz it will be a failure to begin with. It’s the attitude… I think you knew that though
