14” Display Scratches

Just wanted to post some quick anecdotal info. The 14” display in the Tundra seems to scratch much easier than the one in my 2020 Tundra, as well as the displays in my Infiniti. I’m assuming most of the scratches are in the anti-glare coating, however, I already have two small deep scratches that I can catch my fingernail on, with only 1700 miles on the truck (Have never had this issue before).

I found a protector kit for the screen and dash gauges that I just ordered from ScreenProTech and will report back after install. It’s supposed to help hide most scratches as it is applied in a similar fashion to window tint.

 

I am seeing a lot of tiny scratches when the sun hits mine.

 

How did you make a big scratch in the screen? Also mine came with a protective layer on it similar to smart phone screens have. Yours probably does as well. Should be able to peel that off and replace it. Not sure if your dealer can get the screen protectors yet.

 

My wife made the scratch (-.-).

Just checked and there does not appear to be any film on the display.

 

Let her know she's banned to the backseat for 1-week (7 riding cycles). Animals and buddies only in the passenger.

 

I'd rather have glass but I can't find any.

I found a sapphire glass kit that is crystal clear. The protector actually makes the screen appear much clearer than the factory film provided. The only issue I have seen is that the glass tends to bubble in a corner. The bubble is not apparent when the screen is lit up. The kit comes with the option of requesting a complementary replacement.

I was about to recommend this! Very easy and clean install. I like it and it doesn’t take away from the quality of the screen.

 

Pick at the corner…there is a factory piece of plastic covering the screen.

Same happen to me. Didn’t understand how and why so easy. Laughed at myself when I got the factory plastic off. They did a good job getting it on there that’s for sure.

 

The factory screen covering should be removed as part of the dealership's pre-delivery checklist. It's used to protect the screen during manufacturing and shipping.

Definitely was not removed on mine…and was applied well. Very hard to tell it was still there. Couldnt fathom why it scratched so easy.

 

Anyone know where to find the speedo protection lens.

Glad the factory cover was still on mine. Made install of the Spigen glass cover easy as there was no dust removal or cleaning needed.

How are you liking the Spigen glass cover? I’ve used their cases on my last 3 iPhones. Great products. Notice any reduction in touch screen performance?

 

It is excellent. Touch screen works fine. I put it on shortly after getting the truck, so I would have a hard time comparing touch performance, but touch is great. Less glare with it installed as well.

just ordered this one a few days ago. Thanks! I followed the directions except for the sticky pad part. It was pulling up the OEM screen but all is well. I had one small air bubble but waited two days and it disappeared completely. Looks great and touch sensitivity is very good. I am pleased! Thanks again!!!!

Let me know if you get it installed without a bubble under the glass. I had an issue with one in the corner. Its only noticeable when the display is off when you first get in the truck during the day. Once I start the truck, I don't notice it.

I started going through threads again and see discussion of a factory cover. What is the factory cover made out of? I think my had an additional protection screen added by Toyota package. Called PR100. I’ll upload a pic of that on sticker. Now I see mine says tempered glass, so maybe I don’t even need something more??

Agreed but very hard to tell if something is on there or not. I'd like to see a screen that doesn't have one to compare to.

 

SET and that toyoguard pricing. they pretty much list all the toyota care default service that is free and add that last line for $699

 

I hear ya, about 1,000$ of stuff I would not have even considered of adding on if I had custom ordered. Toyota is smart by doing allocation to shove this extra stuff on us but we do have a choice.
