Found this on my 2021 Tundra Pro today. Only 3200 miles and it was only built last August. Waiting to see what Toyota says....

Its the rubber boot that protects the FOX brand shocks on my Pro. The other side is fine, not sure why it's so brittle.

I knew what it was lol. I meant to ask if it's plastic and not rubber? If it's plastic the weather took a toll on it for sure.

And that’s probably what the dealer will say so they don’t have to warranty anything.

Might want to look at the inner tire sidewall for cut or gouges, don't want a blowout!

Hopefully it is in stock, nowadays you might be waiting several months. Good luck!

I'd just buy some quality boots from Fox instead of replace with same ol crud they put on from the factory

It was not road debris. I looked all around the area and there is no other damage. The boot is cracked in all directions with no evidence of anything hitting it. My estimation is bad plastic/rubber compounds/production. My concern now is what has gotten into the shock itself and compromised it. I'd like Toyota to replace the whole shock now.

I've run rear Fox shocks minus boots for over a year now and my shocks are fine. They're sealed. Coilovers have exposed pistons and no boots. No issues there either.

Could be a thousand different reasons as to why it happened, and unfortunately proving any one of them might be very difficult. For that reason, you may be on the hook for the repair. Save any receipt(s) in case a recall eventually shows up.

Well Toyota agreed to replace the whole shock. The truck only has 3k on it and the service writer quickly agreed it was manufacturers' fault. The Fox shock boots should last a lot longer

You have a good dealer as its just a boot and the shock itself is not compromised.

They said they cant get just the boot, so they have to replace the whole shock.

Read my mind, but I bet they have to turn it in.
