I don’t see why the tundra had 4 cats buy removing 2 of them would save me money in the long run. I live in MD btw.

How would it save you money in the long run? In many states removing any of that stuff is becoming illegal and can be big fines.

Newer vehicles are not like the 1970s cars where folks would hot rod and modify exhaust and get performance increase by removing the cats. No reason to do it these days, you will not gain anything on a daily driver or save any money. Oh, and it is illegal for street vehicles.

    Too many, but not enough....
what i think he means is taking out 2 of the 4 so they dont wear out and he can replace the 2 he leaves on there when they go bad. That or he is terrified of cat theft like the rest of us and only wants to pay to replace 2 instead of 4

You can do many things. In this case, the better question is should you. Probably not, I mean the truck has four wheels too, and you could remove two and save a bundle on fuel costs. However, repairs, impound fees, etc. could exceed the fuel savings. Besides that, mice like Toyotas and cats keep away mice!

maybe you should clarify as to why you would only want to remove 2 of the 4 (the real jokers are coming out :p) as I'm at a bit of a loss myself

I don't have cats and I've never regretted it. If I ever trade my truck in I'll have to put some on though... I have my stock cats and brand new ARH so I'm ready.

I've had cat thieves hit my truck at work and realize I had nothing for them to steal so they moved on to a coworker's Sequoia (they knew exactly what to target).

dude - the whole Houston area has changed since I was last there. Just crazy to hear about how bad the CAT theft is there, and agree - if no one says anything, why replace them

Yeah it's nuts when you can't even work at an elementary school without having two guys pull up in broad daylight brazenly try to steal shit off your ride. Hell the city of Houston's fleet, dozens of vehicles, had their cats stolen (46 of them).

Texas just passed a bill that stiffens the penalty on cat thieves so I hope that does something because it's insane.

When I took them off it was to replace my entire exhaust system with a complete header to exhaust tip setup. The truck came alive but I don't know how much of that is due to no cats lol.

The main complaint I've read is the smell and sound (loud). Both increased. Cool thing about it is if I don't get on it you can't tell it's there. The smell just reminds me of how it was to drive my ol 78 big block

Not really. I have a tune and Pedal Commander but I pretty much drive like a "paw paw" (my wife's term of endearment) so my mpgs are around 11-11.5

My truck is excessive, came with 4 cats I removed two and it led to a better exhaust tone. I would not remove the cats that have a sensor behind them, not only do I have no idea how it would sound but I also don’t want issues with the sensors

Straight pipe is cool but it doesn’t sound good, generally most people can agree although it is a cheap option it’s very raspy. I recommend ordering a Two-Chamber muffler and swapping out the muffler. It’ll sound very aggressive. If removing resonator and muffler at least put in one performance muffler, it makes a big difference in sound quality and performance.
