    Interesting idea.
I’ll have to do some looking and see what I can come up with.

Looking at the Parking Assist diagram (for 2018-2021), all of the sensors feed into an ECU that handles the actual sensor data. The front sensors are daisy-chained (one connects to the other, then that one to the ECU) and the rears are also daisy-chained to the ECU. From that ECU, the signals are sent to the instrument cluster as individual inputs.
    upload_2021-11-25_11-16-4.jpg

You can see circled the inputs for the FR, FL, and the buzzer (which is not differentiated between any specific sensor). Since the buzzer is a single common signal, I wouldn’t use it for this.

Now, the way that I understand the ABC switch and relay to work is that when the switch is in the “neutral” position, everything is connected to the HU per original function. The Reverse wire triggers power to the camera and switches the head unit over to camera view. Flipping the switch to either position hijacks the reverse wire circuit and sends a faked “reverse” signal to the HU to switch it to camera view (and power the rear camera). When the the switch position is in “rear” mode, it does not send a signal to the camera switching relay (which is a double-throw, single pole relay that is “normally closed” to the rear camera position). If the switch is positioned to the front camera, then the switch sends power out to the front camera and power to the switching relay to switch it over to send the front camera signal to the HU.

So, in order to try to do what you are describing - specifically when either FRONT sensor activates, have the front camera automatically switch on and display on the HU - you would need to grab the signal from either front sensor and use that to power a relay that will then send a reverse signal to the HU, power on the front camera, and switch the signal over to the front camera. It is very possible you could do this using some diodes to run both front sensor signals to the coil on a SPDT relay that had the green wire from the ABC switch run to the “NC” switch and and a separate power source running to the “NO” switch. The diodes would prevent the signal from one sensor to be pushed “backwards” to the other - they do result in a voltage drop, but probably not enough to affect the operation of the relay coil (would need to do some testing). The output power from that relay switch would then pass along the green wire to the ABC switching relay the way it currently does now (with the splice that actually powers the camera being down “stream” of the relay).

I’m not 100% certain on this, however, without having a better diagram of the internal functions of the ABC switch to understand exactly how it is sending the reverse signal to the HU when in “front” mode. But in theory I think it might work.

Wow thank you. That was a whole lot more of a response than I expected! I kind of feel like that part in Dumb and Dumber where he says “So you’re saying there’s a chance!?” Lol

No but I really appreciate this and I think I followed what you’re saying. I plan on ordering the kit with their Black Friday sale and may attempt this in parallel with you if it’s something you’re interested in too maybe we can go back and forth to figure it out?

    I also wanted to ask;
    Now that you’ve had this Front/Rear system for a while;

    1. Are you happy with it?

    2. Anything you think is a major downfall to the system?

    3. Do you mind sharing why you chose this kit over the other(s) out there?

So, the TRD Pro doesn’t have parking sonar, so no interest in me trying it out, but more than happy to provide thoughts and ideas to someone else. I’ve never had a vehicle with parking sonar, but always wanted a front camera and just never got around to figuring it out in my 2008 (that and the little pop-down video screen was like 2.5” square). I did add BSM/RCTA to my truck, but that was a relatively simple task compared to the sonar system because of the components needed (including an ECU).

For me, the front and rear cameras give me better clarity of what I’m close to than parking sonar would - I can SEE what is there and have figured out how to gage the distance. So in that regard, yes, I am very happy with it.

Room for improvement? The fidelity of the front camera is more grainy than the stock rear one. It works fine, but certainly not high def. It might be possible to find a better one, but horizontal mounting that I am using and the rigid bolt-through mount seems to be a crapshoot to find a good quality camera. At the end of the day, it does very well.

I also don’t really care for the fact the blue light in the switch isn’t a match to the rest of the switches in the truck. But that’s really minor, and mounting it where I did (behind the shifter), it isn’t a switch I ever actually look at. I find it by feel instead.

Why I picked the ABC setup? Mostly the switch. I think the FRAC harness is just as “plug and play” as the ABC harness, though not entirely sure (I found the ABC one first). But I wanted a switch that fit the factory switch openings and looked more OEM than the round rocker switches.

Well thank you for all the help especially since you can’t even use the idea. I didn’t realize they didn’t come on the TRD Pros.

And thank you for the feedback on your system and personal opinion on it. I’ll see what I can do once my kit arrives and I get it installed. I’ll keep you posted so you have an idea on how close your theory is on this.

Sure thing. Let me know if you need any more ideas on it. Like I said, the one thing I’m not entirely sure about is how the ABC switch sends the reverse signal to the HU when in front camera mode. I SUSPECT that they are sending the signal out via the orange wire from the switch, which is what powers the orange LED indicating the camera is on (and with the front camera is on, BOTH LEDs are lit). That would all be internal to how the switch itself is wired.

What’re your thoughts on the Val cat plates and the trd plate? I’m hemming and hawing about whether to pick up the third plate and just sell the trd to make install easier. Or do you think with the new bracket it’ll be that much easier. Figured I’d ask the install master..

I haven’t really followed the Val thread since I installed my plates - not sure what the “new bracket” is. The install really wasn’t difficult (other than laying on my back in the gravel without a helper) and it’s been one of those things that once I installed them, I’ve pretty much forgotten about them (until it’s time to service the transfer case, I’m sure).

Been driving a lot (now past 27,000 miles), but not much on the build front lately. I’ve got a few small things at the house to swap out, but it’s been too cold/snowy lately to do much.

Here’s a recent shot up at Timberline of some dingleberries hitching a ride on my steps from the icy snow on the drive up.
    upload_2022-1-4_16-22-47.jpg

Also started getting a few patches worked into the headliner

Updated my radio to head unit software version 1060 and navigation software version 1110 today.
    Went to this website:
    https://www.toyota.com/firmware-updates
Entered my info as a 2020 Tundra with Navigation and it showed two updates were available.
Downloaded the files, stuck them on a thumb drive (2GB or larger, formatted to FAT32), then followed these instructions (since I couldn't find instructions on the site):
    1. Unplug anything from the USB port (normally my CPLAY2AIR adapter is in there).
    2. Turn ON the truck engine
    3. Plug in the USB drive, wait until the head unit says "reading USB drive"
    4. Go to Settings -> General -> Software Update
    5. It will pop up "Software update found" and prompt you to install it. Follow the steps on screen.
    6. When the update is done (it took ~5 minutes), shut OFF the truck.
    7. Unplug the USB, then turn ON the engine again.
    8. Navigate back to the software update screen again and confirm the new software numbers.
Here's the information after the update.

That particular switch is from a specific trim of the 2013 Toyota Auris (European version of a Corolla I think). Finding one with blue backlighting (most are green backlight) is difficult. But while the shape and outward appearance of the switch is the same as the non-illuminated one in the Tundra, it is a completely different animal inside. It is essentially a full ECU inside and so as I was testing it I couldn't get it to consistently control the mirror adjustment function. It would simply "bump" slightly and then stop and not work again.

alright, thanks for the details. With a 1794, and following your quest for auto-power folding mirrors and the differences in trim, I knew you would know.

Picked up the ME-SO Customs map lights and rear dome light when they finally released last Friday, and got them installed last night.
    Map Lights
    Dome Light
    5849E17B-EAC7-420F-8EE8-E84A4F5C27A2.jpg
The installation was pretty simple and straight forward - there is a video on each of the linked product pages that shows the process. I didn’t need to (or bother) removing the rear dome light from the head liner, it was easy to do there in the truck. On the map lights, you could also leave the overhead console in the truck to do the swap - I chose to remove it because I wanted to see how the rest of the overhead console was assembled for other / future ideas. Do note that the map light reflectors cannot be removed without bending them, so there’s not really any way to “go back” once switch those (without replacing the overhead console).

Here’s picks in RED mode (both map lights and both rear dome lights are on in these pictures)

    9901441A-8F66-49E5-81B6-8ED74E827FB2.jpg

And here is pictures in WHITE mode (again, all lights are on)
    4D47C94B-42FB-4658-A078-D20C4D35D211.jpg

    A4DC46BF-2E4D-441C-81F9-56218D672CCA.jpg

The white is pretty bright - definitely lights up the interior and makes it easy to see things. It is definitely more expensive than the FyreFly’s bulbs I had installed, but also much more functional. I’m happy.

These are very nice Casey, I have the same bulbs you had. I assume these do not interfere with the key fob. I maybe replacing mine also. So a really big difference in the lighting? By the pics it looks like it.

I was wondering the same thing about the key fob interference but based on everyone's praise about these in Taco's, assume they don't and went ahead and bought a set.

Yeah I will wait to here Casey’s comments on the key fob before I purchase them. Install looks easy. I like to have a lot of light inside.

I have not noticed any key fob interference or issues. I pretty much never actually pull my fob out of my pocket - I use the handle lock and unlock pretty much always, and it has been no different since installing these.

And yes, in white light mode, there is a significant amount of light.

I've only had them in for 36 hours!
I have the rear ones set to red and the fronts set to white for when I unlock/open the doors. Seems to be a good balance of not being too bright when I open the truck to throw my pack in the back seat.

I got the same lights. Damn they are bright!! How does your driver map light fit? Mine is a little loose.

Is the fob antenna somewhere different on 20-21? I know in 18-19 they moved it to the 3rd brake light housing so you need to be careful on what make/model of LEDs get thrown in the cargo light sockets, but didn't think the interior lights had any effect.

Mine doesn’t seem to fit any different than the stock lens cover did

No, I’m pretty sure it’s in the same spot and the cargo lights are the biggest culprit of issues.
