Side View Mirror Rattles Around

My driver's side-view mirror rattles around on my 2006 double cab. I think it started after the last time I washed it. The mirror is visibly moving around in the mirror housing and it is making a rattling noise. I can still adjust the mirror normally.

I haven't been driving much and I keep forgetting about it. I haven't looked into it, yet. Anybody seen this before? I thought maybe someone had already done the thinking part, and I could just do the fixing part.

 

Yes. It's been discussed here before. Look under the mirror and there is at least one screw you can tighten. Worked for most of us.

There are three screws on the bottom, mine were all tight but the mirror still shook. Someone here suggested adding washers between the screw and the mirror, I had extra skateboard wheel bearing washers and those have worked great. Done it on 4 mirrors now (DC and Sequoia). I had to remove the mirror to get at one of the screws. The last one I forgot to reattach the power connector so my power mirror doesn't work

How difficult was it to remove the mirror?

 

It's really easy. Remove the door panel, and the tweeter cover if you have one, then there are three bolts for the mirror. I tried to remove just the tweeter cover and broke it so there may be a way to just do that, but I couldn't figure it out.

 

Oh, I thought you had to pop the mirror out of the housing. That is too easy.

 

I also thought that's what he meant.

 

Screws behind the tweeter cover might be lose.

 

So it was easy. Thanks for all the responses. On screw of the three took a little over a quarter turn and now it feels more secure. I’ll be driving it the next couple days and see if it worked.
