    TEXAS!
researching the links you sent @texasrho83.

would like to camp at malaquite campground. seems like this would be closest to the pavilion, where everything gets started. looks like there's 48 campsites available, and first come first serve, no reservations. based on years past, how soon does this fill up?

what day are you planning to head south? where are you guys planning to setup?

There is one being built now about 6 miles away. Hope it lives up to the hype.

The In and out burger franchise has done well here. Haven’t had one since the last time I was in CA (2014).

thanks for contributing to our Texas is the Greatest State thread...

we've just now started to see in and outs here... haven't tried them yet.

whataburger is pretty dang good though. may i recommend the #5 (whataburger w/ added bacon & cheese) and add jalapenos, whatasized w/ a 1/2 sweet tea / 1/2 lemonade. get yourself 2 regular fancy ketchups, and 2 spicy ketchups. your welcome...

I appreciate quality, not just randoms because they have on skirts and boots.
There is so much more quality than what’s represented.

That sounds amazing and will definitely try the #5 out first. Thank you for the recommendation.

A year later the new In and Out near me still gets long lines. Whataburger will do ok here. I see Texas plates all over here now. Not sure what's up with that.

It’s a really cool store, and clean. They pay and treat their employees very well, which is a plus. They have some cool stuff. Fun to go, especially on a road trip.

Good to know. I’ll be interested in what they pay Colorado Springs, CO employees. For example, Panda Express pays their cooks 17.30 per hour (which is ridiculous). Well, that was 3.5 years ago (nephew worked there before leaving for the military).

No. No you don't. Unless you grew up with them.

First time I tried them was after we moved to Indiana. Everyone went on and on about how good they were. We tried it and thought it sucked. They're called "sliders" for multiple reasons; mainly for the slimy texture as they go in, and how they come back out. When I reported my dislike to locals they said, "well, you have to go at 2:00am when you're drunk. Then they're really good." :puke:

Lol, when the drilling boom hit up here (WV and Pa) in the late 2000’s there were a lot of Texas plated trucks comin in. Many of the local trucks had “TAFT” decals on back windows.

Damn, after I retire I could take a management position.

Never in my life would I have thought a restaurant general manager would make 49.50 per hour.

I'm not a big fan of the beaver nuggets.

I hardly ever stop at buc-ee's, way too busy and only need to stop to pee and maybe a water / red bull. can get that anywhere.

    They're great if you

    - grew up with them,
    - are blocked up and need a laxative substitute

I remember reading an article a few years back about a thief who got caught stealing some jewelry, in Chicago I think it was; he 'ate' the evidence.

The cops took the guy to White Castle and made him eat as many as he could; and then had him 'retrieve' the evidence.
