On my 08 Sequoia, something seems to be causing issues with the window tint on my front 2 windows, it is peeling up.

My tint installer thinks there is something in my door panels causing it when the windows roll down. Is there something inside the door panels I should check? Everything works fine and there's no damage.

    Thanks guys.

Did you recently install the tint? Or is this a new problem on old tint?

    Some.
It is possible that the edge is catching on the window sweep. Haven't personally seen it on professionally applied tint, but have seen it on tint installed by teens in the driveway. Usually from the window not being cleaned properly prior to application.
I have found the best way to prevent this is by removing the door panel prior to application to allow the window to be cleaned further down and to allow the tint to be applied below the level of the sweep edge.
I'd suggest removing the door panels so you can thoroughly clean the sweeps and the window/tint. If the shop won't warranty the tint as defective, and you don't want to spend the time and money to fix it right away, you can get a roll of window tape (or other UV resistant clear tape) and tape the entire length of the edge to a thoroughly cleaned and dry window below the edge of the sweep. This will help keep it from catching and give some time before it needs to be replaced.

Thanks guys for the info, I left the windows up for a week or 2 after it was new. One of the windows stayed in good shape for months and then one day i roll the window down and the bottom rolls up.

I notice that you dont say who installed the film?

Usually if you watch it done professionally you will see the installer clean the window 100 more times than you can imagine are needed and in my experience this is the biggest variable in the installs as was mentioned above too and this can allow and promote peeling as you are seeing as well as the obvious snagging from something in the door catching the film as the window goes up and down.

What year is the truck too?
On my 1st gen I can imagine the film being swept by trim every time the window moves but on my 2nd gen I doubt the window ever touches anything when it moves?

Hate to say it, but maybe a different tint installer would make the difference.

I've never had a vehicle do this (including the tundra) and every one of them has has tint.

I turn my own wrenches, but always have brought my cars to a professional tint shop.

Tires, tint and alignments are the only time these randos get to touch my vehicles. And it still bothers me.

Yeah, it was done by a professional tint shop that has done several other vehicles for me, never any issues with the other ones. Sequoia is a 2008

Luckily every tint shop I've worked with covers the install for life.

Hopefully yours will reapply and take the time to reinforce that bottom edge like suggested earlier.

A good tint shop will take care of you

    Got it.
Was just trying to understand it myself?
Usually if good they will be good forever but shit does happen for sure and I would take it in and let them see it and see what they say.

I’ve watched the installer at the shop I have used very often. He places strips of painters tape again the rubber sweep and will tape it against the door panel. This creates a large enough gap for him to push about 3/4” of tint below the sweep.

going on 5 vehicles over 15 years and the tint has never peeled.

I haven't looked at my Tundra but I had an old Honda Accord and my window tint started to scratch and peel after a few years. When I had the windows retinted at another shop, they told me that Hondas typically need felt inserts on the inside rubber window trim to help when rolling windows up/down. Without the felt inserts the dirt will eventually accumulate and cause the window tint to scratch/peel. It is possible that the rubber window trim is catching the tint.
