Okay.... I bitched the other day when I ran in 30 degree weather.

Well, it was in the 20s today. I'd say I "attempted" to run. I'm inside now and my lungs are still trying to figure out how to breathe properly. For people that live in cold regions, does your body adjust to sucking cold air or do you just get use to burning lungs and the feel of not getting a full breath?

Nothing makes you feel out of shape like being out of shape and running in crap weather  happy Thursday y'all!!

I used to just stay the f inside lol. When I was in college and actually stayed in shape, I'd run at the rec center in the winter, never outside.

I got a gaiter neck a while back and when the cold came and i wanted to run, i would wear that. it wouldn't alter my breathing in, but the warm air would stay in making it a lot more bearable. but i hate it when i run in the cold and my lungs are on fire! as well as my nose. i usually come inside coughing from the tickle in the back of my throat...FROM THE COLD AIR! bunch of sickos around hereo_O

I have a bad knee, bad back, and damaged shoulder. I can't handle running on a treadmill. I have a trainer to ride my bike inside and often do that. But I'm really trying to stay strong with running 3 times a week and not letting myself miss days

I actually had a gator on, but it was fogging my sunglasses so I pulled it down. I picked warm eyes over warm lungs I guess.

The rec center had an indoor track. I'm not coordinated to run on a treadmill for any real length of time, so I just used the track. Hopefully the cold snap doesn't last too long and you can get going outside again.

Car accident in middle school jacked my left knee. Had major back surgery in 2009, only have a few vertibre not fused. Hit by a car while biking in 2014, hospital had concern about my shoulder and elbow (I landed on them after going over handlebars and his hood) but being a male and dumb, I then did toughmudder 2 weeks later and destroyed that shoulder. Pretty sure I need surgery on it but keep putting it off...

That would be nice. Not many places here have an indoor track. Our weather is roller coasting. It was 60s yesterday but of course I had other things I was doing so couldn't run in the good weather, and we should see 70s this weekend. But today's high is low 40s

damn son! my shoulder was a boxing incident in high school. hyper-extended it. playing baseball and basketball made me dislocate it about 20 times total before surgery after baseball season. played baseball the following year and had a hell of a year. didn't play for 6 years then got asked to play. put me on third and the first throw i burned it across the diamond and heard all my anchors break in my shoulder. i did my first tough mudder about 4 or 5 years after that and surprisingly did everything fine. including the funky monkey that everyone kept falling down on haha

Yeah, I had a partial dislocation and for about 3 month it would pop in and out of place. Initially the hospital just said it was sprained and to give 2 weeks in a sling and I'd be fine. Not wanting to go back to the hospital I'd just pop it back into place daily when it would pop out. Up until I saw a good doctor who realized the issue.

Funky monkey is my favorite! My buddy was behind me and said my whole body dropped a bit as everything in my shoulder let go... but I wanted to finish the obstacle, so I did. I then couldn't use my arm the rest of the way (my right arm, which is my dominant) finished the course with help. Then bought my dads car off him (had been planned for months) and drove 6 hours back to college with the manual transmission

Tried to shift as few times as possible due to pain hahaha

ToughMudders are a blast. I've done a few different ones and wouldn't mind getting back into doing them. Did one in Vermont, it was up and down black diamond ski slopes! So tough but absolutely gorgeous views

prob my favorite too. i've done 3 or 4 so far. 1 in new orleans (that "mud" stunk!) and the others in texas like college station and all. i want to do another, but it's kinda tough with the kiddos being young and putting all that on my wife for the day.
i had a coworker that did crossfit and it WHOOPED. HIS. ASS! hahaha

That is awesome! It definitely gets tougher as you get older and have other responsibilities. I'm no where close to being able to do one, but we could always try to have a MafiaCrue mudder team. Could be a fun goal to work toward for 2024 or something. Give everyone time and also allow the world to get controlled. Unsure if TM is even happening currently.... pants would be required! But I'm sure this crew would have a blast doing some form of ridiculous custom theme

@Fotnot I had a buddy who was trying to get in shape so we used ToughMudder as a goal motivation. I kept telling him he had to step it up ot it would kick his ass. The first one he did he barely made it thru but it did the trick. He really improved his workout routine and even got to running 6+ miles multiple times a week. I've never been able to run that much unless it was for a sport.

Have you tried an elliptical? My knees and back hate running too but the elliptical is no problem. To me 30 degrees is perfect for running outside, hate being hot. The gator is a great idea, warms the air before it gets to your lungs.

Yeah, I like an elliptical more but the wife wanted a treadmill. Thankfully we don't get a ton of cold weather so this really isn't an issue. Just bitching cause I can but also curious and down to learn from folks that deal with this more regularly.

they're still going. i had someone on IG talking to me about it and asking for tips ( i just gave her tips, not the tip). but i still get emails for them. it just sucks that all of them are usually so far away from me....like 2+ hours. i don't stay the night. I take the earliest heats and go from there. my brother and i have done them all together and he did 2 others before i did.
it would be badass to have a mafia team! i see some of the people out there do it, and don't doubt it's possible for some of the ones thinking they can't do it. @ToyoMafia .....you won't have to create a slap for this. there will be plenty of "slap ass" going on during it. unless we make one and slap them on the obstacles:monocle:

Are you wanting a set, confused by the product, or what?
They are 3d printed and a great product  I've had mine thru Texas heat and the massive cold from last year and have 0 issues.

He doesn't stock them all the time. Best thing to do would be to message @ToyoMafia and let him know what you want. He can tell you when he will be doing his next batch or he may have a set to send.

I HATE cardio and I HATE running. I'll usually do a brisk walk in the morning (when it's above freezing and the cedar pollen isn't crazy) and I have a rowing machine that I can kinda tolerate doing cardio on.

Tom and I could wait around a corner in the Pro, load you all up in the back and drop you off near the finish line. Work smarter, not harder and get a t-shirt if you can.
