Hey, has it been confirmed, Canadian Platinum model does not come with power running boards?

I have seen few 1974 models - they dont have power running boards. But Toyota.ca "build" shows that platinum DOES have power running boards + power rear step..

Hard to say still - I hadn’t seen the option you note on the Toyota.ca build site, but I will say that it initially at least had limited functionality / options relative to the U.S. site. And I haven’t seen a Canadian Platinum anywhere here or on YT. But if it is now an option, that’s something. Can you confirm where you found this info - I just checked the build site and spec sheets and didn’t see it. Cheers.

I figured asking here would be better since here is where people actually have the truck. Anyway, are all the new Tundras open between the grill and radiator support? Also what are your front inner fenders made of?

Duh, read your profile tag for a 2019. That looks like a 3rd gen engine bay. Not sure on that one.

LoL, ya it's a 2022 that I test drove. Looks like there should be a panel like the 2021 and older. And has holes on the support side.

I think the hood seals that part. There’s a rubber seal where the grill meets the hood and there should be another rubber seal on the hood that seals on the radiator support.

I like that, this should make it easier to work on that area. Something the 2nd Gen had better access than the 2.5 Gen.

Real rock rails are meant to be tucked up close to the body and would not make a good step at all, otherwise they would just be more likely to snag a rock or whatever.

Let’s hope this is true. I had to put a new headlamp bulb in the other day and found out I had to pull the grill and bumper piece off to get to get the headlamp removed enough to swap the bulb.

I'm just thinking about dropping tools down while wrenching on the engine. Although I doubt I'd be wrenching on the engine. And it just looks like something's missing.

I looked and believe the rear is accessable without removal. Previous model, they intend on you going through the inner fender for access. I do what you did and removed the grill and filler.

I don't want to buy one myself but damn I wanna see them driving around. I just want to laugh (in a good way) about the absurdity of the thing and enjoy living in a world that such insane things are real. Say what you want about Elon Musk, but he's made the world a more interesting place...

Agreed, the higher and tighter they are, the less useful they are as a step. But most people these days use them as parking lot protection. They want them to stick out far enough to catch someone else’s door or a runaway shopping cart.

I must say it does if you are higher (lifted truck or SUV) vs a regular car or small/midsized SUV which still make up most of folks in parking lots…but that’s rapidly changing.

They do stick out far enough to work. Unless the guy who parks next to you has a taller truck or a 4door sedan where the rear door is tapered in toward the bottom due to the rear wheel well. These Metal Techs saved my 4Runner many, many times. Lots of little dings on the slider but nothing on my doors.

I'm in the Long Island area of NY and have yet to see a 2022 at any dealers. I think they are being sold before they hit the lots. Most dealers show "in transit" if they even show a 2022 on their website. Anyway it has made looking for one kind of frustrating. While the toyota website lets me "build and price" a 2022, the search inventory tool for 2022's doesn't show up

    https://www.toyota.com/search-inventory/page/results/year/2021/series/tundra/

Well - I just realized if you change 2021 to 2022 in the URL the search inventory page for 2022 in my area shows up.

    https://www.toyota.com/search-inventory/page/results/year/2022/series/tundra/

Hopefully some find this useful in trying to track down a 2022 in their area.

I'd note that the only trims available in my area are SR5 and Limited.

Same area, from what I have seen your assessment is correct, sold in transit. If you really want one now you gotta be quick.
