Jerez, everyone complaining about cold, I wish it would get down into the 20’s. We’ve been on a 4 year warm cycle in MA. Haven’t been able to ice fish in years.

Mine wasn't to complain specifically about the cold. But the swing of about 70 degrees we had with windchill. Went from 70s in the early afternoon to low single digits around 4am with windchill.... I do enjoy getting some cold weather (for a few days lol) but this has just had me laughing all day.

Like a short walk through the wardrobe to find yourself in Narnia...

These Texas houses just aren't built for the cold. I have streams of cold air pouring through the ceiling can lights, electrical switches on exterior walls, door sills, and my 'double insulated' windows. I do have a great furnace and a hot cup of coffee, and it'll be in the 60's again by Tuesday, so I suppose I should quit my fv(king whining.

Hahaha yeah, I'm in a home built in the 80s by probably one of the cheaper companies and it was previously owned by someone too cheap for what they had. Nothing has been maintained or upgraded besides what I've been doing but man you can feel the cold in so many places you shouldn't

Don’t you also need prolonged temperatures below freezing for the maple syrup business?

1890’s here. It went from 81 to 28. I could hear the house creaking last night like it was saying, “What the fuck?!”

Heck, my 2007 house does that every night, regardless of the temperature swing.

I studied on this quite a bit after moving here to Oregon. Wondered why there was no syrup produced here with so many maple trees. I don’t remember the exact details, but there’s a threshold of cold temperature and duration that the PNW doesn’t quite meet. Through the decades, apparently lots of people have repeatedly tried.

Your house is Canadian though, it’s probably apologizing for your heating bill or something…

I got up at 6am and walked around the outside of the house to check my Freeze Misers. The banana tree leaves didn’t do so well - I’ll uncover them when the freeze is over and check out the damage. Worse come to worse, I’ll just chop down the stalk a bit and cover with more straw. I was gonna do that in the first place but Mrs. Bandito wanted me to try to save the leaves (I think she was just hoping I’d fall off of the ladder…).

Speaking of dangerous women, @SnowyTundra , we’re gonna need to see proof of life from @Dr Doobie soon…

Not impatient. All good things are worth waiting for! Besides, roads in my area are so bad nobody is making deliveries and even waste management wouldn’t do their pick up.
