I have a 2021 Tundra Limited that gets less than 10k miles per year. How often should the oil be changed ? Do I just stick it out and wait till I get to 10K ? Thanks for the help.

    Welcome from NY.

I would change it at least every 7 months.

I’m the same. Some years it’s less than 8k a year. I check dipstick color and levels. It might be fine in ‘miles’ but I would change out fluids less than year even if it’s not close to 10k. Just a preference for me

You have Toyotacare so might as well change it every year or sooner if you want. I don’t drive mine that far but I figured 5,000 was good enough for the first oil change.

I personally think the longer (upwards of 7500 miles) OCI intervals are a contributor to the driver side chain tensioner failing "early".

You are in same mileage range as me.

There are alot of super short drives where the engine barely gets to operating temp in colder months.

I personally put a cap on miles at 4500 but usually change the oil when it starts to have a super strong odor of gasoline. This shakes out to around 3000-3800 miles.

I am in the extreme of course. But I am an admitted OCD-level person about vehicle maintenance.

Every 5k or every 5 months for me. Cheap insurance, as these Tundy engines seem to like regular and early oil changes. As one forum member already stated, the timing chains will thank you and last longer.
