I don't mind the cold. This is a little bit beyond cold. -40 is when shit breaks. My propane Buddy Heater won't run at -47. The batteries on my ice auger will die super fast. The ice hole will freeze up in minutes. I just can't deal with such inconveniences anymore. I've gotten soft from working a desk job and it's spilling into my outdoor life.

 

For him? I could only imagine trying to run with those between my legs!

 

We win the right to sit by the fire drinking whiskey and eggnog while the other guy shovels his truck out to go to work.

Not sure if it would work in your situation because you said batteries were an issue, but so far I’m impressed with my diesel heater.
