broken tailgate handle

2011 tundra crewmax with a broken tailgate handle the left side is still attached. to complicate the problem i have a tyger soft top on. ugh. any thoughts?

 

I just had my (second) handle break the other day too. I was thinking of designing a metal replacement since that apparently doesn't exist. I can't actuate my handle at all from the outside, if yours is the same you'll have to unbolt the cover on the interior of the tail gate to actuate it. I don't know how your soft top works, might have to crawl through the rear window.

 

the soft top is locked down and my window is above the top ?

 

Oh, I assumed a soft top went above the bed otherwise it wouldn't be a top no idea then

 

You will likely have to get a piece steel pallet banding material and bend it the right angle at several places so you can play thief or locksmith and pop the soft top latch.
