YMMV. I’ve no reason to lie. Our fleet Chevrolets don’t have them either.

    Never said you were lying.

Only sharing how what I see is a different lived experience than yours.

BTW, are those fleet trucks RWD?

We have fleet trucks at my work, the RWD ones don't have recovery hooks. We only have a small handful of 4x4 trucks, they all have recovery hooks. Even the F-450 and F-550 monsters have them

No, they are all 4wd. I’m addition to packing tow hooks, they all have a plastic air dam underneath the front bumper that likes to get torn off and create paperwork and unhappy bosses.

Most rwd and even some base model plain Jane 4wd may not have them. But most mid level 4wds will have them, they pretty much come standard. Yet you can’t get them on a nearly 70k tundra. Not even the pro.
But who knows, the pro isn’t out yet, so maybe Toyota is seeing all the talk about tow hooks, and will figure out a way to have them on the pro by the time it comes out. The prototype pros in the reviews dont have them.

They are 4wd, and not base models.

Oh yeah, the good ol' GM air dam. Been getting ripped off by parking blocks since the early 90s.
But, they do get good mpgs.

I checked, because I found it curious y'all have trucks without recovery hooks, and my friend has a 2018 Silverado LT 4x4 with tow hooks....

Almost all pics of Silverados I found have recovery hooks, they are obscure though, in little openings on either side of the license plate area. On Silverado they are black, but on my neighbors GMCs they are chrome and obvious, but in the exact same spot.

Wouldn't surprise me that the recovery hooks could be optionally left off, as American trucks are very configurable.

Yes even if they don’t come with them, they have a place to mount them as an accessory. This tundra doesn’t appear to have a place, without doing damage to the plastics.

Ran into Santa Claus today he was getting ready for the big work night. I noticed he even had tow hooks on his sleigh. Said he’s been getting request for tow hooks this year from new tundra owners but his elves told him there’s no way to mount them. He agreed it is ridiculous.

:notsure: I don't see the problem here. The problem vehicle that needed recovery was a Jeep, not a Tundra.

If your truck doesn't break- down (like a Jeep) or get stuck (like a Jeep) you don't need tow hooks.
    ;)

    Awesome!

    Wait, which problem?

Is @Outbound still a smug arsehole?

If he is, is that still a problem?

    Was it ever a problem?

I take it back - I’m more confused now.

Not to be out of line but tow hooks on a skid plate with a snatch rope at full tension will turn that skid into an Iraqi scud missile. Tow hooks need to be mounted to a frame position.

Well, if the skid plate weighs 200 pounds and goes back a few feet to pick up on several hard points on the frame, it'd work.

Still gonna need to lop-off the plastic overbite

Maybe the skid plate will mount directly to the frame? Guess we will have to wait and see.
