Hello. My first post, needing help / insight. I am helping my son with 4” lift kit on 2015 Tundra. I read in one of the posts about the CV slipping out / spline when LCA hangs all the way loose. How do I determine if this is the case as I don’t want to cause damage as we try attach control arm to upper ball joint. Currently, can’t get the upper arm close to ball joint. Thanks.

Did you jack up the LCA as far as it will go, and then pry down on the UCA?

Thanks. Did not pry down on UCA. How far should expect it to flex? Still trying to also ensure the CV not popped out.

If the LCA has a jack limiting downward motion I wouldn’t worry too much about the CV axle overextending. You can use a ratchet strap or something similar to provide downward pressure on the UCA. You might have to manually adjust the UCA ball joint a bit to go through the spindle.

I think problem may be we didn’t always have LCA on a jack.

Should be able to easily tell if the CV popped out by looking at it. As I recall, I think I pried the UCA down a few inches. Two set of hands makes this easier.

If the CV pulled apart there will be excessive play in the shaft. That inner boot doesn’t look good.

Take off the coil assembly and reset the inner cv joint by jacking up the lower arm. It popped out/over extended. Boot looks good no rips it a 10 min fix

After you set it back in place keep the spindle closer to the truck when you reassemble
