That’s a dealer add-on scratch, part of the $5000 dealer adjusted value!

(you're/you are) Thought my response was fairly straight forward. He said he had a problem with the new Tundra not having tow hooks. I simply said if you don't buy one, you won't have a problem with the new Tundra not having said tow hooks. I am thru talking about damn tow hooks. Talk about a dead horse. peace out

Now that I think of it, I reckon the Toyota recovery hooks (which hopefully is released sooner than later) would actually protrude out of the lower grille holes. That way, no new holes have to be made. And mounting them under the chin is out of the picture at this point, because there are no suitable locations under there, not to mention that electric folding air dam. Thoughts?

EDIT: If this is so, it would only be for TRD, SR, SR5, and Limited trims/grilles. It makes sense . . . mostly I think lol :notsure:

We really don’t even though I like you would prefer to act still act like we do. It only gets worse from here and the biggest reason is social platforms and forums much like this. Every reply should be by PM only. Then people wouldn’t waste their time right? It’s like arguing until you find someone that agrees. It validates but destroys at the same time.

Gotta say, I’m really liking this truck.

I know one thing for certain, if I ever did find myself in a 3rd gen, I’d still hang out on the 1st gen side.

You guys wanna make out with me?

    Nope!

Step 1- Shovel and hi lift jack best you can to expose frame.

Step 2- Pray truck is secure and won’t roll or slide.

Step 3- Crawl under truck to secure straps or winch cable to frame for a a secure tie off.

Step 4- Turn around and cover ears if sight and sound of crunching sheet metal and shredding plastic bothers you

    Step 5- Get yanked out

Step 6- Collect the mangled and likely detached plastic bumper, grill etc. off the road and toss them in the bed.

Step 7- Curse lack of recovery hooks all the way back to the dealership.

Important Note: If recovery hooks provided, skip direct to step 5 and disregard following steps.

There might be a problem putting them in the grill due to the active grill shutters .

I can't speak for the Tacoma, but the 4Runner has the factory shipping points on the front that many have used with zero issue/breakage for towing.

Maybe Toyota could delete the trailer hitch and all those that don’t tow can start telling the rest of us to “quit whining ” and “wait for aftermarket solutions?

Sorry this is a big deal for a lot of folks. It’s not the +\- $75 of missing steel it’s the engineering that goes into the frame to adequately attach it.

At first i thought , o well, i dont get stuck often but when i do, ill just have to crawl in the mud and dig around and maybe hook to the frame or something, it is what it is. But now it looks as if we cant even do that without busting through the front end and doing damage.

If the tow hook situation is THAT big of a deal move TF on. Not sure why people are here all "MUH TOE HUUKS!" Go get a GM or Ford or NISSAN. Nissan is a good option for the hipster truck owners. Companies change, trucks change, THINGS CHANGE.

Didn't know there was such a thing as "hipster truck owners". I will admit though, I don't think the Nissan looks bad.

Probably should have typed that out as "hipster-truck owners". Basically everyone that opts not to buy big 3, mainstream trucks.

Gawd damn. If tow hooks make a truck, I'm going to go put bigger tow hooks on my neighbor's Prius. He's shopping for a truck. I'll just tell him "Look, the internet told me that tow hooks make it a truck and make your penis and balls bigger, so I got you some big-ass ones. You won't need to shop for a truck anymore."

Too bad there isn't an ability to have a dedicated spot where others TOW the same line as you. Maybe you could HOOK yourself up a thread where things that please you are only discussed. That way when others discuss what is important to them in a free for all general 3rd gen thread your feelings won't get so ruffled ?

    Just food for thought.

On a side note, I wonder how much of our unhappy feedback has filtered back to Toyota execs. I hope the new Sequoia is still at a point where some of the pain points identified can be solved (if they cared to). Squeaky wheel gets the grease, and this platform is going to be around for another 15yrs.

Probably too late for them to redesign the front end to mount them. Maybe they can mout on on top somewhere, that way when you get in a situation where you cant get pulled out from the back, you can call a helicopter to lift you out from the top hook. lol

Some people actually think they do. Those people have set up security cameras near their fireplaces. They're gonna try to get proof of Santa.

Sounds like you've had a great run with your Tundra relationship, but it also sounds like it's time to move on.

It is a well run and large forum. I think they know about it and pop in occasionally. (Semi annually?)

Monitors? I'd be very very surprised if they did. But I know they keep up with YOUTUBE comments, so it would make sense if they kept a pulse on places like this.
