That's my point here though. You are saying "they buy the stolen merchandise". How do you know this? I just think it's kind of a logical fallacy to say "they" are the problem when it's pretty clear what the real problem is.

    Don’t mean to sound contrary

my point is these giant recycling centers feed the crime. They are legit. But feed the crime

there is not much of a market that would demand that much recycled capacity without theft

ad hominem should be avoided. And if I insulted your person Not my intent

they had a big crack down on this in indiana recently... but guess what.. didnt stop anyone.

the places i go to recycle stuff from work wont take anything cut. has to be the whole pipe... fine for me since i'm literally the mechanic that replaces these when they fail. im just going to cutout the middle man and NOT weld my OEM cats into my new exhaust... they're going in storage so if i ever return to stock, i can. instead, i'll toss some cheaper spun cats on it and tuck them up under a skid plate.

This 100% we just did a local buisness meeting for our district
    2019 2 reported thefts
    2020 6 reported thefts
2021 1,534 reported thefts same time new scrap yard opened
^CATS only^ does not include all the others.

You see these two guys unloading wire and conduit tell me they are legit please and tell me the scrap yard is not at some form of fault.

That land rover was filled inside and on top and filled both those black tubs.Scrap.jpg

At the beginning of both military intelligence schools I attended, they told us to remove the word 'coincidence' from our vocabulary. Obviously it still exists, but not nearly as often as folks might imagine. This situation certainly deserves a closer look.

These two clowns are classic crackies. I mean, who goes scrappin in a Land Rover? Dressed like they just crawled outta that bin? These scrap yards know its stolen goods, but the money is too good. Plausible deniability in their favor. It's no coincidence that the scrap yard opening and the increased theft incidence occurred in tandem.

Agreed, considering we are a stones throw away from this facility and watch guys like this daily in front of our shop. They literally have a homeless chop shop with running generators to run the power tools to strip the “product”. We have one guy doing an engine swap and this particular guy we have on camera thanksgiving eve cutting our fence going through our yard looking for anything of value finding nothing then trying to pry our industrial roll up open setting of the alarm. They’ve been here over 3 months, I’m done giving them the benefit of the doubt.

the recycling company knows what is going on and the choose not to refuse service.

Sorry for the rant, this one hits close to home for me.

That’s interesting. Years of statistics and social science has proven to me that there are more often coincidences than causal links.

At 51 years I think there can be both, but just because there are dots doesn’t mean they always connect.

Its probably safe to posit that you and I live/work in different worlds. Neoconfederate and garden variety scrappers aren't in league with ISIS/ISIL, AL Qaeda, etc. They may smell similar, but that's where similarities end.
