The more I hear, the more similar you two are. I haven't seen a mechanical drive in him yet, other than he does like to know how things work. I was the take it apart guy. He does have an aptitude and interest in Bio-med. Different and similar. Doesn't have a lot of friends, seems to be his choice. Excels at everything he cares about. Not openly outward, but has a lot to say.

A similar mantra of mine. I have lots of friends who are really acquaintances, true friends are rare and to be cherished.

Multi-tasking is actually brain-switching. We can't actually multi-task other than do things like walk and chew gum. If you have to think about it, you can't think about something else simultaneously. Those who are considered good multi-taskers are good at picking up where they left off. But nobody who is trying to do multiple things at once is doing any of them to the best of their ability. And, nobody is actually doing multiple cognitive tasks at once.

The only exception to this, that I have seen, is that mothers of newborns can be immersed in a task, but the very instant there is a change in the sounds from that room down the hall, it’s instantly a shift in priority and full awareness

Mothers are the inspiration of the multitasking myth because they are so hyper effective at shifting from task to task. It's still a shift of focus, but they do it with great speed and frequency so it appears they are all being done at once. Kind of like LED lights. They aren't always on, but they are blinking so fast you can't see the change.

It would be an exception if mom continued the immersed task at the same level while responding to her baby...

As for me, I can’t remember 2 things I need from the other side of the shop. I just count on walking back and forth twice, lol :rofl::rofl::boom:

But the last one I went to a few years ago (pictured above), the clerk was very cute, but 8 months pregnant.
    I gave her a $20 tip.
I hope she wasn't scamming me..

Bio-med is an intense field of study, and takes a “gift” to survive the curriculum and succeed. I considered it a few times, but ultimately I didn’t want to spend 5-8 years schooling. I went to school at MSOE in Milwaukee and I think the Bachelor’s program for BioMed was 5 years (it was back in mid 90’s). If he’s got interest in that stuff, the best you can do is get him some exposure to people doing it - get to some schools that offer it and let him spend time with the students and the professors. A lot of places offer “shadow” visits that are 1-3 days for HS juniors that give them a bit of a taste of student life and the courses and are a great way to start exploring the possibilities.

Me too. I frequently use the term space cadet to refer to myself because I will be very focused on a task, get interrupted or pulled in a different direction, and completely forget I was ever doing the first task. A coworker and friend noticed this and so as a gag she bought be a toy set of butterfly binocular and a butterfly net "because I was always chasing butterflies." I denied it jokingly, and when I came back to the office in a company vehicle that afternoon there was a giant moth/butterfly stuck in the grille. She seized the moment as definitive proof that I do, in fact, chase butterflies. That was many years ago, and that net and binoculars have moved with me to every desk I've had at the company. Sentimental value there.

I have Godzillas on my desk. You post up a pic of your Unicorns and I'll post my 'Zillas and the butterfly binoculars.

Glad I'm not the only one.
I send myself emails all day long as reminders of things I need to do when they pop into my head.
    "HEY Siri, email me "..

I often walk into the garage or a room and forget why I did it.
Although it usually comes to me after a few seconds.

Sunday as I pulled out of the driveway going to the grocery store, I thought of something.
30 seconds later at the next stop sign, I couldn't remember what it was.
2 minutes later after seeing the TPMS light on, it popped into my head.

In the cold weather snap we just had, the TPMS light came on in my rental tacoma when I got in it.
The reminder was to air up the tires when I got back from the store.
    So I did it.

I also found out my air compressor tire inflator gauge was 2 PSI off.
Tested it with a separate air gauge.
No wonder every time I top mine or the wife's tires the TPMS light creeps back on.

At first, I thought "I need a new gauged inflator".
Looked up a few digital ones on Amazon and saw crappy reviews.

Then I came to my senses and thought, " I just need to remember to add 2 PSI when I use the one I have"...:thumbsup:

Fighter pilots are the very rare few that have the ability to do this and still remain extremely proficient.
It’s an attribute that’s sought after.

    Guys…

I’ve been thinking about this list thingy and I’m not too sure.

All I'm saying is, I don't think an old man living with elves at the North Pole is the best person to judge whether I've been naughty or nice.
