I have oil in my driveway on the ground. I have no idea what is going on. Any help is appreciated. It looks like grease coming from my rear differential. It’s splashed all under my truck bed. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Does anyone have any idea of what could be going on here?

I would check the level in the rear differential ASAP. Looks like you lost the pinion seal. Pretty easy replacement.

    Maybe a pinion seal?
Wipe down the end where driveshaft comes out of diff and see if new drips show up.
Might want to check oil level in diff.

Absolutely agree. Check the level in the rear diff. It's probably near empty. Based on location it's a pinion seal.

any recent work done to it? did it sit? how viscous is it? thick as peanut butter or thick as chocolate syrup? i ask that because at one point it sounds like you think it's grease, then another oil. i'm assuming oil by what's provided in post. info on truck needed like year, mileage, use, last driven?

You've got multiple drip points and the yoke is not wet. You've got a pinion seal leak.

What’s the best way to clean that mess once the pinion seal is fixed?

Definitely the pinion seal. It’s clearly being spun around from the 3rd member. A bad seal allows oil to leak out. Easy fix.

    Bright side….

There will never be rust on the rear of the bed.

Seriously, if you live in an area where the put salt on the road, clean it off the rubber brake lines and leave the rest at least until after winter.

    Just an observation...

How the hell does year and mileage help troubleshoot or diagnose a problem, like a leaking differential.

It doesn't. But it might help figure out who is going to fix it.

    That’s a pinion seal.

Oil doesn’t spray like that from a gasket.
I’m sure it’s low if nothing has been added. Might not be as low as you’d think though. Oil can be misleading.

I have seen pinion seals go pretty early in a vehicles life (under 5K miles) and I still ended up fixing it after several crappy attempts from Dodge.
