For a distraction from all the 2022 talk. Hypothetically, Lets say you have a "A Friend" who is looking at two used Tundras.

    1) 2021 Limited w/ TRD-Offroad 12k miles
    2) 2019 Platinum w/ <20k miles.

For this argument lets say price difference is ~ $3K with the 2021 being the higher of two.

The 2021 has the advantage of Bilstein suspension and the upgraded headunit with Apple Car Play/Android Auto. While the Platinum has well all the other bits that Platinums get. But in this case, the "Friend" has dogs and isn't sure if the perforated Platinum seats are really a good thing.

    Which way would you go.

    (asking for a friend :rolleyes::thumbsup:)

Think of it this way, the 2019, you can have an aftermarket headunit with carplay/auto. The 2021 can have seat covers added.

That doesn't answer your question but it helps your "friend" to know there's a fix for either way "they" go.

For the Platinum, how often would the dogs be in the truck? They make those back seat mats too for dogs.

Does that Platinum have power-folding mirrors? I have your option 1 (2021 Limited w/ TRD-Offroad) and sure wish I had factory power-folding mirrors...

The headunit issue - Currently most are unobtanium due to chip shortages (just go look at the Crutchfield website lol), There is the option of going through the hassle of pulling the kenwood out of his current ride for a later swap.

I haven't physically looked at either truck yet. The Platinum is local, the Limited over an hour away, so that will have to wait for Saturday if it doesn't sell before that.

Platinum has a much nicer interior. I have 4 dogs and my seats are fine. I have seat covers for front and rear when my dogs are in the car.

The leather quality/comfort in way better in platinum. Not to mention ventilated seats. Im never going below a platinum/1794 again. GL with decision

Whichever color your friend likes best. The Bilstein shocks are okay, but wouldn’t be what my decision revolves around.

Neither has a transmission cooler. The Platinum has all the OEM bells and whistles (that were on a '19). It comes down to how much your "friend" wants the extra bells and whistles. Pretty much everything else can be modded over time - head unit, suspension, leather seats, etc.

This also assumes both sets of maintenance records are available and in good shape.

I’ve never seen a post on here with someone converting a platinum to a lower edition but many that wish their truck had power folding mirrors, leather seats, puddle lights etc. Buy the platinum, the radio still sucks but it’s nothing James and Tech 12 volt can’t help you fix.

My 90 lab stays in the back seat area with the seats folded up and with a mesh barrier across the front seat backs. The perforated leather was the deciding factor for getting the Platinum.IMG_1766.jpg

    Make sure I understand correctly…

A Platinum can be had for $3K less than a Limited? It is two years older, but with similar miles. In my world, that 8,000 miles difference is about 4 months of use. It is meaningless. Shoot, my 2018 Platinum I’ll turn 4 years on in mid-April and just rolled 94,000 miles. It’s still near perfect.

For the $3K, buy new (much better than TRD) shocks and order a stereo. You’ll be in a nicer truck from top to bottom.

Platinum. No question on this one. Good luck!
