For you guys that have done them(this is for an 07 w/ 5.7), have a couple questions:

Looking at Kooks or ARH ..both without the emissions tube.

    1. How are you skirting the CEL? MIL eliminators? Anti foulers? Or just getting it tuned and cleared out?

    2. Air injection system…since the LT’s wont have the tube are we using the bypass kits, leaving them open or again just tuning them out?

Planning on getting it tuned soon after but looking to see if this old pig is driveable after install or if leaving the AIP open is going to toss it into limp mode?

    Appreciate it!

ARH LTs here on my 2008

I'm running the AIP tube off header with plans to tune out once I get HPT. I haven't figured out how to tune out with OVT. You will need block off plates if the plan is to run without and a corresponding tune. The Hewitt bypass kit should work as well if you don't go custom tune.

Even with ARH Cats I still had the CEL but used defoulers to get around that. No problems in over 8k miles.

Is there a reason you are wanting to run without the AIP? If you plan to remove it completely you would need the Hewitt kit that emulates the system. If you don't have a reason to completely remove the system I wouldn't.

As far as check engine lights go I'm using my factory cats that I had @dirtydeeds modify for me as well as a DAP tune. No issues for me, but it's only been 2 weeks. Are emissions requirements a concern for you?

AIP’s are just a fail point I’d want to eliminate since Im rendering them useless by going high-flow cats anyway.

Wouldnt remove them, in case I ever went back to stock, just essentially want to turn them off and prevent a limp mode situation from them.

Long tubes are a fail emissions wise, however its just an OBD scan. My heads/cam z06 has been dodgin’ that for years:D

    Appreciate the input!

Awesome! Thanks. ARH’s fit good? Have to beat the cab or anything?

In that case, I would get your factory cats installed into custom mid pipes if you can. Guranteed not to throw a code. Also, the Hewitt Tech Gen 2 bypass kit will enable readiness monitors for emissions as well. There may be a way to do it with just tuning software but I'm unfamiliar with that since I just have a canned tune.

Dont know how the hell I missed that thread googling. Nice write up!

They feel good in the mid-range? Hoping for a good 30-40lb ft around peak torque(3700’ish rpm).

Thank you, I hear that often. My thread title could have been more generic to help search results. Maybe next time.

Mid range is where it really shines and where the biggest gain was felt. Haven't put her on a dyno but 40 ft lb is conservative. With full dual 3in exhaust Deeds dyno results put out a healthy 89tq increase using JBA LTs. I'd expect ARH quality to take it up a few but idk.

Here is a mid range WOT I did a while back, tires break lose from a roll around the 3500rpm mark so your right on the money.

For shits and giggles a launch, she spins 1st and 2nd pretty easy. I can only imagine the SC folks.

ARH long tubes here with cats, no emissions tube. Not tuned, ecu doesn’t like the ARH cats. running 90 degree foulers takes care of the problem. Running Hewitt bypass for 2+ years now, no issues.

I’m happy to answer any questions. My truck was the jba prototype so I’m biased since they created long tubes before anybody else even considered it. But , I have installed nearly 100 sets and have sold over a thousand sets, and provided tech support to anybody whom asked.

    my number is 760-877-4234

    to answer the questions:

Use the HewittTech module to turn off air injection. It’s a great value and the owner is a good businessman.

Stock cats are preferred unless custom tuning or supercharging. The ecu like cats better than no cats. You can actually feel the difference in low end torque. And on the Dyno, track, or street: cats do nothing lose power.
