Oh Shit! Glad to hear you made it out alright! How was the trip otherwise? Was it a fun trail?

 

Top 3 if not the best trip I’ve made! Weather was perfect, park and trails were empty and only a few “broken” parts(flat, turn signal housing and small PS hose leak). Still a ton of trails and mines we want to explore and already planning the next trip!
We went counter-clockwise around the racetrack which brought us down Lippincott, thankfully. I won’t try going up until I get new tires, install gears and the rear arb. Ran into an 80 series going up and he had to lock up in a pretty nasty spot. DC’s are a tad big for this trail but doable. Your AC on 35’s and locked should walk right up it. I’d post pics but they don’t do it justice. If you go, let me know, we will meet you down there!

 

Not a lot of extra time today, but did run over to Lowe's and grabbed some Lucas white lithium grease and put some on all 4 door hinges. No more squeaks. The rears were badly in need of it for sure. Not sure when my LED gels will come but hopefully soonish. It will be nice to mess around with those. Not sure actually what to attack next. I may get a couple more Snugtop clamps because I only have 4 and 6 would make me feel more comfortable. I do want to find a boot to go between the shell and the cab. I'm not sure if there is a Snugtop dealer around me. The retrofits I ordered *should* be ready this month. It's been quite the wait but I'm really looking forward to them.

 

I read the description of that trail. Cliff Note V.1: If you don't have a capable truck you die. If you don't have experience, you die. If you did not pack for survival and the wind blows south then west, you die. If you survived, you may fall to your death anyway, you die.

Also, my arb locker arrived today. Or at least two boxes from nitro in addition to what I think are the gears and LSD I think I already have. So, hmm, what to do. Zuk won't touch ARB so I may be up the creek there unless I go with someone local who wants a lot more but at least I can do a drive-up and git-er-done. Hrm...

 

Also, my stock suspension sucks. And I need an alignment. But at least I have leaves and coilovers.

 

Well, keep us posted on that locker @daveeasa (please). I don't have one but plan on it. From what I understand, best locker and hardest install. So I'm looking for the shop that can do it well.

 

Yeah, at some point I will have to decide I guess, am I gonna give someone a screamin' deal and go no locker, am I going Eaton or am I going local shop install w arb. Decisions...

I think I still would need to source axles if I do a front locker.

Realistically, who am I kidding, I'm not enough of a man to get myself into locker territory, I'd stay home or walk/run/ride my bike into that kind of stuff I bet...

 

My suspension rocks, but I need alignment. Lower balls, arms replace says so. I plan to load the coils a tad as well. It's been in the driveway for the most part.

 

Well, if we are talking about the rear 8.4, and you punt, let me know. I only have one wheel drive so I'll want it without crawling.

 

I got the LSD for the rear, 99% sure that's what I want there.

 

What do those go for the pair ? Looking at new leaf springs

 

Any body do a 2.5" level in the front of their Gen1 DC? If so, did it level it out, or raise the front up a bit?
I'm looking at the Eibach Pro Truck Sport kit and I'm trying to decide whether or not to put their springs on or reuse the factory ones up to a 1.5" lift. I like a little rake but for longevity sake I'm considering the full kit with the minimum 2.5" level.

Man, my alignment is wonky AF. Turns out we have a great big fancy alignment rack here at work and the service manager has a tendency to leave early on Fridays...

Not sure I'll have 35s on my AC anytime soon, im on 31.5s right now, haha. Im thinking of getting 33s when it comes time to get new tires. Ill probably regear and put a rear locker in at that time too.

Do you have 35s? What tires are you going with now that you need to get a new set?

Just over 190k. Its just 2WD but I have plans for a locker or LSD for the rear in the next year.

Got this done early this morning. Wire loom protected my primary wire run for the dome light in my shell. I used the 1/4" split alex tech cord protector. Zip tied it to the frame or existing wiring harness every 18" or so and snuck it up behind the brake booster. I do have an add-a-fuse in there by the battery. I feel much better about this vs. running an unprotected wire.

 

Now having some fun. Potentially someone locally would be interested in trading for these TRD Pro rims. Only problem is that I'd have to get new tires eventually and sell the ones he has because they are too small (265/70R16s). But then I saw that you can get a Defender LTX A/S in 285/75R16s! which would be about as big as the ones I'm running right now. Decisions. Decisions.

 

Got the new Reflashed ECU programmed to the IMOBI. first driving impressions this morning did not impress the butt Dyno, but I confirm the speed governor was removed. VVTi engagement stayed the same. Acceleration and cruising feel the same. Shift points also feel same.Have to schedule a dyno run to see if any gains were achieved.

I have 285/75r17(34’s) and love this size. Wish I can find another set of Cooper st maxx’s but they’re back ordered. First tire I've run that I want to keep for the next set! If they only made a 35x10.5r17!

Yea im actually planning on Cooper ST Maxx 255 85 16s on my next set which i believe is 33".
