I've taken the tour of the Spetzl brewery (Shiner) and it's awesome

 

It's a pretty cool place, it just takes forever to get there from any populated area...just like everywhere else in Texas

 

I’d go with 285s unless you really want the extra diameter. Narrower tires just do better on pavement in the wet and snow.

we’ve had some snowy/icy weather here the last week and I’ve been very happy with my Trail country’s so far.

can’t speak to the others much, but I’ve heard good things about the Baja’s, and the AT IIIs I’ve heard mixed reviews.

 

So I've come to the conclusion that my OEM parking brake line that runs from the pedal to the under-cab adjustment point is reallllly stretched out. I maxed out the adjustment on the clevis under the cab, and the shoes inside brake disc, and the front parking brake line still has slack when the parking brake pedal is pushed down - the rear parking brake cables are not being pulled. They have proper action when not connected to the clevis/ front parking brake cables.

I'm thinking I need to adjust the front parking brake line, shorten it, or replace it all together. Looking at the FSM there is an adjustment for the pedal travel, but I'm not sure if that adjusts the length of the parking brake line itself.

Please don't tell me to adjust my bell cranks because my truck does not have them.

I don't know what bell cranks are, but at the pedal in side the cab? I only adjusted under the cab - but I believe there is an adjustment there as well.

Edit: saw you were looking at pedal adjustment. I haven't done it but I have been led to believe there is cable adjustment there. Worth a look.

 

TireRack doesn't have much in stock.
4WP has some. I'm waiting on my friend at Toyota to get me some prices. But if he doesn't call soon, I'm going to just call 4WP directly and see if they'll get me prices.

 

For the price I really like those Toyo tires on your list. I like the way they look the best too. Asking for opinions on tires is hard because you'll get 5 responses with each one having a different opinion. How much off-roading are you really able to do in Indiana? I assume the Tundra is your winter vehicle? Maybe get the one with the best snow rating?

Also, can you not get a better deal from Discount Tire?

 

Discount gives us zero discount. We pay full retail. It's total horseshit and I don't even recommend people getting tires from them because of how slow they are and how poor their customer service is.
We have three offroad parks and a national forest within 2 hours of my house. I daily the truck year-round, but it does get nearly 100% of the winter miles I drive.

Wet freeway is a concern for sure.

 

You work at Discount Tire now? I've always had exceptional service there. The last two sets of tires I purchased I got a better price just by asking. Last time they even price matched Amazon. When you factor in free rotations it's a no brainer.

That said, I retract my statement. Above your link says that tire is $140. It's actually $299 per tire on 4WP. That's insane.

 

I work for a Honda dealer. We buy lots of tires from lots of places. I do my best to avoid Discount, but sometimes, they're the only option.
The link shows those tires are available from 140...just not in my size. Gotta scroll down to get the real prices.

Since I work for the dealership, I have access to free mount, balance, and rotation. Plus I have the lift at home.
If they'll price match Amazon, I'll see if I can't swing a deal from them. But I just hate em.

 

I gotta say, it must be a regional thing or something. I've had this exact same experience at Discount. And when you drop the extra 25$ or whatever on the tire warranty, they swap it out, no question, no money, although I always tip my service people because those MF'ers don't get paid enough for the shit they put up with!

People never think to ask if the price offered is their 'best price'. I've asked at NTB (National Tire & Battery), Kauffman, and Discount. Discount is the only one that's ever given me better pricing.

Although I gotta say, I had such a good mobile at-home install experience from Tire Rack recently that I haven't set foot into a tire store in at least 2-3 years now. I also patch my own tires though, which has saved a few trips.

 

I hate to give them any sales but Wally World has most of those for cheaper or if 4WP will price match. The Cepek is almost $50/tire cheaper.

Out of all of those the Baja has more siping so it might do better in the rain and snow but they've all got huge treadblocks which typically suck in inclement weather.

Goodyear Workhorse ATs might be a good option?

I don't think I've ever seen anyone hate on Discount Tire. It's white glove custom service around here. They even use a torque wrench on the lug nuts which I've never witnessed anywhere else.

Sometimes it takes longer than I would like for a rotation but I can't complain too much since it's free.

 

Check Walmart.con for prices. I’ve usually seen them for the lowest.


I’ve had great luck with discount tire. I actually recommend them to anyone I talk to who isn’t auto-savvy. Free patching and top notch service has been my only experience.

 

Same here in the NW, price matching, good service and torque wrenches used.
No complaints.

They were just released this spring, so very limited snow-related reviews.
All the reviews I can find, save one, have been very good. The sole detractor was unhappy with the amount of weight required to balance two of his four.

Fiddled with that pedal adjustment, saw a bit of improvement but not enough for what I need. Guess I'll be out $75 or so for a new cable (46410-34140).

 

Must have stretched it good. I think I took up less than half of the available adjustment under the cab and none at the pedal.

 

Just drive faster. When I lived there back in the 90s, people would drive over 90 mph going between major cities. Seemed like the norm.

 

Costco does that but I wouldn't trust them with expensive rims unless you don't mind scratches.

 

Well, like an idiot I threw away the box with my front bucket seat’s armrests…anyone know where I can get replacements?

 

Yeah it's like 2 hrs from Houston or San Antonio lol bit my buddy has land out that way so we stay the night and shoot guns n shit. Totally worth it for the fresh brew on tap from the source.

I want to know where each line from the transmission cooler goes to. Pics would be helpful along with description.

Left line on cooler goes to...

Right line on cooler goes to...

 

Pass side of rad goes to bottom hard line that goes to bottom of cooler.


aside from that i’d be guessing, my skidplate is in the way.

on my cooler, both lines are on the left (from the front) one at the bottom, and one an inch or so above that.
