The ‘22 looks great overall, specs are good and I’ll definitely consider it in the future, but I got my 21 specifically for the 5.7L knowing it was the last year. I wouldn’t be lining up for a new model year either, I can wait.

This is disappointing to see your coolant issues. Luckily under warranty. I’ll keep a close eye on mine after seeing this.

The V6TT gets slightly better gas mileage but you have to buy premium 93 gas since it’s a Turbo?

Yeah I guess that 93 octane will equal out what we spend for the V8. Lol.

‘22 Tundra runs on 87 octane regular.

Your right Toyota says all of them 87 octane.

The 22 is getting hammered on the web and online for its alleged price, projected reliability and NO non turbo larger motor option.

    Too many, but not enough....
I bought my 21 specifically because it was a dinosaur. No blind spot monitoring, no parking sensors, terrain select, auto this and auto that, etc. I believe trucks need V8s. I used to have a few turbo cars and while fun, i would never want a truck with turbos, it just doesnt make sense to me. I dont care about gas mileage or going fast anymore. I wanted the reliability of a 15 year old engine because i am keeping the truck until it, or I, die. I also knew toyota would downsize the truck and ruin it with turbo/hybrid bs, and i absolutely love the giant cab for my kids. The one thing I am actually pissed about my 21 is that I missed the CD player by a year.

Missed it by 2 years, actually. No CD player in my 20 either.

I was at a dealer in Tucson getting my 2019 serviced and wandered over to sales. They had 1 2021...a vanilla 2wd. Asked about the 2022 and said it's gonna be MONTHS before they see even one. They have a waiting list ~30 long already so no one will be walking in and kicking tires on an actual for sale 2022 for a long LONG TIME.

As others have said, the 22' looks pretty cool and the hybrid engine is awesome to see since everyone's been complaining about Toyota not changing things for decades. Now that they have, it'll be neat to see longevity on the new engine.

I have a 21 TRD PRO Crewmax and its been excellent; Toyota quality through and through. I haven’t had any/zero issues with going with a new model or a complete refresh when it’s been a Toyota. 90 4Runner, 78 Celica, or the 2007 FJ Cruiser were all perfectly fine! Now with a couple of Chevy purchases; S-10 Blazer and Avalanche it was a different story. So I wouldn’t be afraid of a new Toyota due to ‘first production year’ problems. It’s the prices of the 22 that scare me!!!! Who would have thought 56K would be a bargain for a Tundra TRD Pro. The 22 prices are in line with the price gauging Ford has been doing for years without the quality! That’s my .02!

I drove 1300 miles round trip after calling 50 dealers in like 10 states to find the 2021 trd pro I wanted at a price I was willing to pay, because I didn't want a 2022.

I'm not anti turbo, my 2012 ultimate lariat f250 with 6.7 has a turbo and I've put just shy of 180k on it, purchased it brand new. It's been a good truck, I did have the TCM go out/act up around 120k which was difficult to pin down, and I replaced the starter on it. I prefer a turbo v8 over a turbo v6.

The turbo v8 works way less. Last week I reset my mpg in my superduty and pulled about 6.5k all day. Drove normally and up and down hills here in Kentucky still got better mpg than my trd pro with no load or trailer lol

But I knew the bad mpg before I bought it so no surprise. I'm an old faithful kinda truck guy. Since I keep them till the wheels fall off I want reliability.

Sorry but no. The only pricing getting hammered is dealers with a high ADM. Consumer reports is projecting less reliability literally because it's new (which it really isn't) and no other data. And the TTV6 is being received well by those who actually have driven them or purchased them, not just look at spec sheet.

Went from a 15 Limited CM to a 21 TRD Pro CM last month. Couldn’t believe the value my 15 brought. Don’t know if it’s the suspension or just being newer but the 21 rides and drives far better than the 15.
As stated by several, I felt this truck and motor is proven and plan to keep for a long time.
