Which weekend are we talking about here? My ass has been itching for a road trip.

 

The 12 hour limit rules out Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming. I second the motion to go to Missouri. It is a really pretty state. I've never been to the Ozarks, but I've driven through the state a few times on the way to Chicago. Texas is cool too, with bmf and free beer! Wait did he say free?

 

Anybody that bought Dirty Deeds exhaust or headers from them jget a shipping notice yet? I'm still waiting since like the 20th

The Ozarks are beautiful. Highly recommend. But go during the spring or fall.

The 12 hour drive thing was just something I threw out there. Not really a hard limit. Kinda intrigued to work on Ironman... Be interesting to say the least. Be super cool to go northward, and Visit @empty_lord's farmstead.

It's usually at the end of April. As far as I know they haven't announced it yet. But it's every year minus 2020 because of covid. I was planning to go that year too. So 2021 was my first time

Mixture of PJ1 chain lube, WD-40 Gel Lube, bearing gel, Hydraulic Fluid, Air tool oil, Kroil, and Anti-Sieze.


This ratchet was rusty, but I cleaned up the rust with Tundra2 elbow grease, and now it's gets the first treatment of slickums.

 

You're not terribly far from Atlanta and a cheap Delta flight to anywhere they fly in the west. Nashville has some pretty good direct flights also, as long as you're flying nonstop there's not too much of a worry with delays.


Round trip to visit Houston might cost you $150, tell @bmf4069 to stop being cheap with that Lonestar and get some Shiner

When I left the Lottery, my exit interview was online and 'anonymous'.
I blasted them with both barrels. Didn't hold back at all.
I'm confident it wasn't anonymous, and even if it was, I'm the only one that left when I did.
Typically, I don't say anything at all.

West is much further than it appears. It's a million hours to anywhere...and two million hours to get back.

The Ozarks are beautiful and not terribly far.
Flights right now are kinda spicy on account of the holidays, but if you can link up with a friend in your desired destination, the world's your oyster.
If you head up to Dan's, LMK and you've got a place to crash in Indy on your way up, back, or both. **I'm only about 2.5-3 hours south of Dan.
Indy doesn't have much to offer in the winter aside from trash roads, bad drivers, and cold without snow.
But I've got a flat driveway in a quiet neighborhood, tools, guns, a spare bedroom, and 4 couches. Swing by anytime.

If I went north, I'd drive the V6. Crackie isn't ready for a long haul, and I can confidently get in either of the other two, and go.

12h * 60 being 720, here's a map of all the places you could go within that range, starting at Mayfield KY. Or, cut in half at 360 in case you meant round trip vs 1-way.

I mean, if it were me, I'm partial to NOLA because that's home. I'm also partial to a specific spot in NE LA which is in the 360 circle because I spent summers there working my grandpa's land, though there's not much to see. Also a fan of SATX because family. Also have family in the weird panhandle strip of OK that TX had to give away so they could keep slavery legal in their state bitd.

I'd probably make a round trip of it: Either hit Nashville or Memphis heading south (probably latter, aunt and cousins live there), then head to NOLA, maybe stop in Lake Charles and in Galveston while heading west, land in SATX and check out the basement of the Alamo (heh), eat some BBQ in Austin, then decide whether to continue west or north, or just head back home making random stops on the way home. At least this route lets you avoid road salt, this time of year. I'd hafta hit OK to see family though.

But then again, if it were me, I'd probably just go fishing for a few days and skip the driving.

 

My tent of pain blew away at some point which exposed a lot of my tools to the cold, cold rain. Some rusted, thankfully my torque wrenches didn't rust. Internals feel good.

Wiped out the boxes with a towel, and laid them to dry in a box of rice.


I've got several other tools that need to be cleaned up. Will be taking the assortment to work, and cleaning them up one by one. More pics to come tonight featuring new slickums. Feather Dustin and tard repairin!

Is the condom just for looks or does it actually protect it from shock and water?

 

Yes. I don't know really, but I bought it on clearance for like $13. It was an impulse buy. I think it's advertised as a shock absorber, but can't say for certain.

I've only ever dropped this on gravel, and dirt. Both have some give. Not dropping this on a concrete floor 1,700 times a day. Lol

I grew up less than an hour from Gilmer. I try to avoid that area as much as possible but it might be worth a trip. Looks like it would be a pretty killer weekend.

One of my best friends that I used to homebrew with recently moved to Shiner. He actually took a job there as an assistant brewer. It’s a pretty awesome little town that supplies most of the USA with kick ass beer.
