What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

On the topic of RC and storage, I was pondering a pair of those

lockable wheel arch storage bins. I haven’t yet asked the PO if he has a key for the shell locks. Not super sure I want to drop $ on 6 new cores just to be able to lock a shell which can be easily broken into.

 

i still want to retrofit some tacoma bed side boxes into my truck.. but i dont have the free time for that project.

 

I first was introduced to Kicker with an installer that knew his stuff, bridging modules, amps/subs at 1 ohm, it was amazing to me. I never went big boy, but it would be fun to do it sometime. Not stupid gangster rattle, just clean power.

Tacos have a cubby built into the bedside behind the fender, in the bed. Pops has one in his Taco, I like it.

Get a grinder, an ammo can, some self tappers and some bed liner. Done.

 

you lose bed space to that. i like utilizing space thats otherwise forgotten. the bedsides hold a cavity that would be perfect for storing straps and recovery gear instead of a tote taking up space in the bed or a ammo can or w/e

 

I'm saying cut a hole in the bed, mount the ammo can in the hole. Not a big can.

 

hell i've considered hiding a spare CV axle up under the bed for the red taco when i start using that thing.. out of sight. but there. i'll just have to seal it up in something so it doesnt rust. (i have a bad habbit of keeping spare parts in my cars.. my avalon has spare ignition coils (known issue), a drive belt, tire plugs, small tool kit, fuses, bulbs. etc all stored with the spare tire just incase.

 

AH. yea theres not enough space for that. its narrow. but its a useable space with a custom box made to fit.

 

I have codes for all cylinders misfire, so thats p0300-p0308. I also have a rich code bank 1, p0172.

The truck runs fine 99% of the time. Occasionally it will shut off at low idle, usually about to park it.

I have new fuel filter, new MAF sensor, 8 new platinum plugs, all denso ignition coils (4 brand new to replace cheap chinese ones), clean air K&N filter, and clean throttle body.

I ran my computer to verify the O2 sensors functioning. I got normal sin wave pattern between 0 and 1. I understand that to mean they are working.

I replaced the engine about 5 years ago with a refurb, came with about 50K miles. This is a 2000 Tundra with 190K and I have no idea what may need to be replaced with normal wear and tear. Maybe old vacuum lines? I live in Hawaii, lots of sand, salt and heat. I am second owner.

Anyway I trying to keep this thing solid so any ideas what could make these codes? Maybe failing fuel injectors? Evap. Canister? PCV valve? Fuel Pressure regulator?

I always cut a thin piece of wood, same shape and size as the amp and put it under the carpet, then screwed the amp into the board through the carpet. Looks clean and holds strong. Economical too.

 

could be some drippy clogged injectors..

the other stuff is easy check and clean up your vaccuum lines cut off the cracked ends and reinstall. pcv valve is cheap and easy remember to buy a grommet.

 

didn’t you install some 12 holes injectors a few weeks ago looking for feed back. where did you get yours?? Tia

 

Ordered RAS springs Monday and they came in Friday so had time to install them this morning. Fairly simple install. On the lowest setting they raised the rear about 3/8's of an inch which I needed as I was dead level. took it for a spin and I like them. Rear feels much more planted around curves and the ride is a bit stiffer. Pretty much what I was after.

 

Out of 2 2006 corollas.

 

I have some on my truck that my grandfather installed 12-15 years ago. They have held up well and I am a fan of the ride too.

 

The 1ZZ or 2ZZ? Any testing done to determine it's worthiness?

 

1zz. No dyno tests or anything. Flow test showed consistently around 255cc. I still have to have the originals tested. So far mpg has improved by 1mpg consistently and idle is smoother, but this likely is due to cleaned injectors vs 200k originals

 

I'm glad I'm not the only one to've said this more than once in my life.

 

I mentioned this before, but I installed a JL 12 in one of my lady friends' bugs (flat windshield model w/coca cola paint job, former owner was in prison for selling the white powder version!) and those cabins are just made for bass. It's crazy how much the cab shape seems to amplify things. And there's so much room in the trunk for hardware!

I prefer capture nuts. Ask Dave. I'm a capture nut fiend. Love those damn things. Too much time spent building into 19" racks.

@alb1k I have an extra ammo can in the basement I'm happy to send to you (free) if this is something you want to pursue. I might've posted for sale in the 'general' section last year or something. Never went anywhere. I'm sure I've still got it.

That's what the last shop I worked at did: Use liquid nails to glue MDF to the floor, then screw into the MDF. Works great. No permanent damage. But good luck removing the board from the floor after.

 

Thanks, @Shifty'! I'm good, I have and can get ammo cans. I haven't decided exactly what's going to go on back there. But, I do know as of today I'm missing parts and my furumo (sp?) is the wrong size. Faaaak.

So I picked these up today. They are in pretty good shape. However, they are the 16x8 -25s, not the 17x8.5 -10s. I also grabbed a set of Wildpeak 285/70R17 takeoffs, plus an unused 5th from a spare. So I'm in a bit of a conundrum. I see that I can do one of the following.
1) Sell back the 285/70R17s. Get a pair of tires that fit the SCS. I don't think that would be that difficult. However, with a 5th spare and the others at < 1k miles, I could likely find a 5th 4Runner rim and do a 5-tire rotation.
2) Sell the SCSs. And swap the 285s for my current 265s on the 4Runner rims.
3) Sell the SCSs. Hold on to the 285s and wait for another set of SCSs to come up, which is unlikely in the near future.

I'm selling stuff either way. With option 1, I've got to sell my current tire/rim/spacer setup and the tires. With option 2, I've got to sell the 265/70R17s and rims. And with options 3 I've got to sell the rims and hope that something comes up.

I dunno.

 

Finally finished installing jba uca’s, 5100’s with OME 2885’s and replacing front axle seal and cv axle. Got those silly lift spacers outta there. Took all weekend and hit some road blocks on the passenger side but pulled through and finished before the sun went down tonight. Before and after (the after pic is before it settled about an inch)

 

I need a winch for my CO bumper and was wondering which do you have?

Unless you built the home & spec'd the garage floor density to support a lift (which I doubt judging by the headroom), your floor strength is an unknown.
As such, I would like to see you putting chocks in front of the front wheels that they might slow a possible vehicle fall from shifting lift due to gravity or floor strength deficiencies. A slowed fall could allow you enough time to GTF outta the way. This is the 2nd time you've done this.
