Im in the car business and I wont deny inventory shortages have driven up new car profits.long term though we will see an erosion of new clients for parts and service. Acquisition costs of used cars literally cannot be believed - even with all you read.
I decided on 6112 shocks and they are sold out for another month or so. I also decided on a kenwood head unit . No one knows when this will be available. on paper my house is worth way more than it used to be which resulted in a big mortgage savings. Now that i have another truck i see that landscape / equipment trailers have gone up 200+%. Boats and vacation homes to buy or rent have gone through the roof. Overall i have to admit the impact has been very good. How about for you ? what has been good or bad?

Glad I don’t need to buy anything now. Everything I have is worth a lot.

working from home is also a plus, but also did it before the pandemic, just not full time.

my lady works more from home…. More ‘fun breaks’ during the day  so that’s been a big plus :p

Took a few days to find a descent gaming desktop for my son for Christmas. It's the graphics cards that the PC manufacturers can't get.

The only impact to me so far is trying to get a new seal for the door of my canopy. Leer initially sent the wrong one and there's no word when my shop will get the right one. Though I wonder if my shop is hoping I'll forget about my warranty claim too.

Personally, nah no impact but, I stopped by my Toyota dealer yesterday for my Tundra's 12 month check up / oil change.
I saw maybe 3 cars for sale and no trucks. The place looked like a ghost town except for the service area.
Some used cars (non Toyotas). The only dealership that had cars was the Porsche dealership.
Some guy traded in a new corvette for a Porsche over there and they had it up for sale.
It was red or I'd stop by and take a look.

I work in construction and was moved across the country to build semiconductor manufacturing facilities.

For my career, it's been great.

When my 2018 Tacoma was totaled back in July and I had to turn around and buy a new truck, it was NOT great for my wallet.

It's driven the prices of used vehicles into the stratosphere, so I'm looking at buying a brand new truck instead. Recreational products like quads and boats have also gone up so family toy purchases are being put on hold. Inflation is rapidly increasing everywhere else in life, so our quality of life is decreasing.

The only saving grace is I started a new job earlier this year which provided a huge pay increase and a few years of stability.

I work at a European specialty shop. Anything older than 2008 is basically a fancy lawn ornament. VW doesn't have engine computers available, Land Rover parts are not in stock with no ETA, BMW and Mercedes are starting to limit parts priorities to dealers first.

The biggest difference is in our oil. We use Liqui Moly, and their prices are now $16 USD a liter when it used to be somewhere around $8.

My wife’s Jaguar has been in the shop 3 months waiting for parts.

I ordered a tractor from John Deere in September. It still hasn’t come in yet. (To be fair, they did have a strike in October for a month so they are backed up from that and parts shortages)

Ordered a G-stove woodburning camp stove and accessories from Norway 16 months ago or so and if I'm lucky it is finally in production. Time for about the 10th email I guess. They did offer an added bonus for my patience!
