Double front wheel bearing failure!

My 2005 XSP with 90K miles total. The Spouse drive the truck on a 700 mile round trip.
She said it was making noise. I checked into it and the right wheel bearing was shot.
I checked the left front and it was fair. I told the shop to fix everything they find that won’t
make it 10 years. They replaced both left and right wheel bearings.
For such a low mileage truck, I have had to rebuild the rear driveshaft and replace both
Front wheel bearings. Being a mostly BMW guy I’m used to parts failing early.

is this somewhat normal to Toyota Tundra?

 

And needing specialty tools out the ass, and having to take the entire car apart just to service one small part on anything made after 1990?

My truck has 70k. No driveline issues. No wheel bearings replaced yet.

Recently had to replace the L/F wheel bearing at 120,000 miles. No other driveline/drivetrain issues. It's a 21 year old truck so not too bad I'd say

 

Just had the driver front wheel bearing replaced today on my 2016. Shop found it when installing new 295/70/18's.

 

Bearings are wear and tear parts. YYMV, but eventually they will all need replacing. These are old trucks. Anything that is still working on any of them is in bonus time already just from age, let alone mileage.

 

Got the big rig back from the shop. Painful price tag, but it
drives so much smoother now. The truck used to hunt down the road.
By that, It never locked in. Always a correction left or right.
With the larger XSP tires and being wider than stock, it was fatiguing
To drive. Now it needs no correction and is a joy to drive again.

 

How much was the labor for the front wheel bearing?

 

4 digits, then a decimal point. The first and second digit being a 1.

thats out-the-door price, OEM parts, labor, tax, etc.

 

sounds like a good deal considering the parts are probably around $200 for bearings, seals, shop supplies so around $450 a bearing side for labour

 

It was 1100. very happy with results. Just wonder why they both wore out at 90K total miles.

 

Clue one to front end durability ^^ when shit don't drive right, shit prolly aint right.

I have had to replace one bearing, it was at 275k miles, the oring in the abs sensor had broken, slight water intrusion.

Probably underused.

I’m at 290k with wheel spacers and E rated 285’s and I bomb wash board roads.

My steering rack, ball joints and TRE’s were toast at 245k.
