    Hi all,

I just purchased the TRD 17in Matte Black - Alloy Wheels part # PTR2035110BK4 for my 1st Gen 2005 Toyota Tundra Double Cab SR5 TRD edition.

The tire shop said that I may need new sensors and that they could try and make it work.

Do I need new sensors? OR can they use the existing ones?

If your original wheels are steel, the sensors will not work on alloy wheels

Thank you for the fast reply. They are aluminum. :).

I also hear that the tire shops or auto shops need the correct tool and often the sensors get broken in the removal causing the narrative to say you need new ones?

Sensor are really up to you. If the low tire pressure light is on but tires are fine then usually the sensor that's out of battery. You could replace it or like most people they ignore the light on the dash. You could also try resetting the tire sensor with a button near the bottom of the steering wheel and see if the dash light comes back on. you could also try having the auto shop program your sensor if the batteries are still good.

Maybe, maybe not. Around here, if you have someone that is going in for their driver's license test, the test administrator won't even let the test proceed if there are any dash warning light on.
