Hi all , looking to know if the oem led headlights on 18 and up trucks will have the low and high beam ON at the same time when high beam is turned on .
This is for trucks that came factory with led headlights and not the ones with iharness conversion.
Would appreciate it if someone can reply and let us know

Factory led headlights do not keep the low beams on when you activate the high beams.

Thanks , that is what I wanted to check .
I have the harness conversion and it seems that both low and high beam stay on when you are on high beam .
Wonder if the harness will be affected after the recall is done

Are you sure? Every car I owned had both light stays on. Is that just Canadian vehicle? I just double checked. When I put on high beam, both low and high stays on. Fog light goes off.

    Canadian Tundra here.

Can’t speak on a Canadian vehicle, as I live in south Louisiana. But I can 100% say my Oem led headlights do not keep the low beams on when high beam is switched on.

@Rotaryphoneuser @Danman34 , interesting, both of you have an 18 truck with factory led from Toyota with one having both high and low on at the same time and another only high beam on .
Is there a difference with the build month where Toyota may have changed that , wonder what 20 or 21 truck have by default .
and I will have to agree that every vehicle we had will always have the low and high beam on at the same time with fog lamp off

Don’t know about that , the high and low beam stays on usually , my wife has 2020 highlander and both lights stay on and the fog light would go off .
Would like someone else to confirm from US truck if this is the case or not

I stand corrected. I just went out to my truck to see and the low beams do in fact stay on with the high beam.

    Low beams on with fogs
High beams on, the fogs turn off, lows stay lit, and high beams light up.

At first it LOOKS like the lows cut out, but that’s because the beam pattern shifts up with the shutoff of the fogs and the higher aimed highs.

I just triple checked it in my driveway.

The reason the fogs cut out is that there is law (might be technically state-specific but I’ve never found one that didn’t have it) that only four forward facing lights can be on at one time (above a certain light output). So lows + fogs or lows + highs.

TRD dual exhaust, Rough Country lift kit and too much money spent.
So i was curious about this. I just went and checked and my low beams stay on when i switch to high beam. Mines is a 18 Limited.

That’s exactly what I thought too. I’m use to hitting the highs on pitch black sections of road and it appears as if the low switches out too. But just checked in the driveway pointing at the fence and low and behold, the low beam is still there with the high haha.

    thanks guys , appreciate it
I have the iharness with the factory led headlights conversion.
Both high and low beams stay on and wanted to make sure this is also what factory installed headlights also do.
I have the recall and I think at this stage is useless for us who did the conversion since this is no longer an issue for us .

    Sounds like it.
Might want to bring it in to dealer to at least have them “check off” the recall as completed.
I know in my ‘08 the halogen bulbs did the same thing (L+F or L+H).
