My understanding is that the wires from tail gate run under the truck and enter inside the truck from a plug in the floor (pass side).

How well does this seal? Do you think I should add some sort of sealant on both sides?

I am in Canada and worried about salt etc entering truck.

Kit being used is the oem Toyota power truck kit.

So there is already a seal there in its place, same material as the seal that comes with the tailgate lock kit.

So in theory all you’re doing is replacing one OEM seal, with another, you’ll be fine installing it as is, without sealant, as the seal that’s already there does not have any sealant either, but I’m sure it won’t hurt anything either.

Only thing I did read was to install the arrow on the new seal to the 4 o’clock position (assuming that the front of the truck is the 12 o’clock). Which I’d imagine is to keep the ‘opening’ of seal on the underside of the truck pointed towards the rear of the truck to keep it weather tight.

thanks thats true should be ok..

I think the 4 o clock is to help the wire coming into the cabin to direct the cable towards the kick panel but not sure on that one.
