    Hi,
Approx 1-2 years ago, I had a starting issue where the truck starter kept cranking after I let off the key. I turned off the key, & then was able to start the truck after some pushing on the gas pedal. This issue happened again a week ago, but I was able to start the truck.

Now when I start the truck in the morning it cranks & starts, but it barely runs for about 10-20 seconds before the idle comes up to a normal RPM. It seems to blow a lot of exhaust at this
    time also.

If this sounds familiar, please give me some much needed advice. Hoping to avoid the auto
    shop.

hit up a auto parts store and have them (or borrow) use their code reader to check for any codes.

Also would check and make sure you dont need new air filter or plugs. May also need to clean the MAF.
