New lift/ alignment

    Just installed 2/1 CORNFED lift on wife’s T4R “ mall crawler” along with 285/70/17 Patagonia M/T

    Had alignment done at local Toyota dealer and the RT-front caster is out of spec. a touch - mechanic said he could not get 100% because of “lift” - but the left is in spec. ??
    What you think- can it be shimmed ?and corrected - or is it not going to be an issue ?

    I personally have not drove it yet but wife says it “ wanders” a bit - but she is also used to a bald factory tire- lol

    Eibach Pro Truck Stage 2 suspension, HD RAS, 285/75-18 Nokian Outpost AT, LoPro bed cover, TRD rear sway bar, DD 10 inch exhaust, and various other goodies
    First issue is getting the alignment done at a Toyota dealer. Think you will have better luck with a non dealer shop that specialized in alignment/front end work.

    Alignment and tire balance is only as good as the tech performing the work. Experience counts. Dealers just try to set to spec, once lifted, factory spec may not be the best settings and an experienced alignment tech will now how to improve drivability.

    I would not think a 2 inch lift would require adjustable UCA on a 4runner. My 2006 4Runner is about 2.7 lift in front, stock UCA are ok. But adjustable UCA allow more tuning for better driving experience with lifted trucks.

    Yes I agree with all you said - truth be told - A long time friend since high school has been a mechanic all his life and I actually used his shop/ lift to install CORNFED lift and he hooked me up with his son who is a “ young mechanic “ at the local Toyota dealer and can do work on the side between jobs and he mounted/ balanced tires for $10 a tire and the alignment for $50

    I guess “YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR” is my TRUE to life issue

    I will drive it myself this weekend and decide if I want/ should pay UP for a BETTER alignment- there is a local tire / repair shop that does all the lift/ alignment work for my dealers new trucks

    @frichco228 is spot on about finding a shop that specializes in alignments. I had quite a few trucks with leveling shocks or spacers that were always set for the 1 inch mark, never more. And I always went to Toyota cause I figured it’s only an inch and everything is fine…how hard could it be? Recently after I put the Coach Builder spacers in my Tundra, I have the mechanic use the Coach Builder specs on their site. It’s a night and day difference (handling and general lack of “jittery steering) than any Toyota alignment on my modified trucks…
