100% correct so it's unlikely the payout had anything to do with upgrades and/or mods. It's an insurance co. They are more likely to tell a person to go pound sand and eat the personal loss than they are to cough up $$$ because they're nice.

Edit: My take is the high-payout was partly the crazy market value on the trucks at this time and partly the extension of an olive branch in the hopes of easing any future claim(s) by the OP.

So to everyone. If you have a 1st gen that looks like it’s gonna be on its way out. It’s not a bad time to have someone rear end you and collect. Payout on these things looks to be pretty good these days. So as long as you have a back up car/truck to use.

Cosmetically the damage isn’t all that bad. It was because it has frame damage so they factor that in. About 10k to fix the frame and another 9k for the side of the bed and bumper repair.

And we all know you mean this as humor, of course.

Glad to hear you're OK. Any idea on what you'll purchase to replace the truck, if anything?

I’ll wait a little and see if the market calms down a bit and then I’ll look for another tundra. I still have my 2017 Tacoma so I don’t need a truck at the moment. This was my weekend truck I use to tow a toy hauler with, but if a good deal on a 2007+ tundra comes up then I might have to pull the trigger.

If you would have done repairs and had the receipt and showed it to the insurance company that additional value added

They put everything I did as far as maintenance into account. which is probably why the high payout.

Took awhile but here it is. Used the payout money to upgrade to a 2nd gen. 2011 double cab Trd rock warrior 4x4 with 120k. Agreed on 21k. More then what I wanted to spend but considering it's pandemic and the recent maintenance he did like brakes, shocks and recently changed tires. Lots of maintenance record and clean carfax. No rust as this has been a SoCal/central valley truck.

Oh, please. There’s not THAT much room in a 2007+ DC. You 1st gen guys would need more room for your eggos.

Yes, I do mean your toaster waffles.

    BUT I LOVE WAFFLES. :D

It's a nice looking truck. I just get intimidated when the hood is above my nipples in stock format. It's supposed to be my job to get her up above my nipples.

Yeah the buy back was 5500 but then I’ll have to put like probably 7k maybe to have it fix and It’ll end up being 12k with a salvage title so I just took the money and upgraded.
