I replaced the driver's side leaf spring centering pin and ubolts. The 1/2 block walked out of position months ago. I thought that the center pin was loose or broken due to the gap in the leaf. It was tight when I pulled it apart. I wanted to see what happened when tightening that pin back down. The nut creaked like it was rusty so I replaced it and the ubolts since I had to realign the block. Most of the creaking is gone. There was some at the rear clip so I pryed it out a hair. My concern is that there is still a gap in the spring.

Here are some quick shots of mine for reference. 2016 w 53k miles. Maybe 50 lbs in the bed. Hopefully others will chime in. Has the rear on yours lost any height?

How would they be worn at 13K miles?

They should not be at those low miles. Do the springs have the clamps on each end? Done much off road flexing? Is ride height in rear the same as always?

Yes the clamps are there, no offroading, and only 2 inch lift in the rear.

If you google what causes gaps between leaf spring, it appears to be quite common. My next plan is to email some suspension shops I guess to what the consensus is.

How would mine be worn at 13K miles? The passenger side doesn't have a gap. I'm sitting on Toytec shackles at 1.5 along with the 1/2 block. Is there a spring pack that will give a 1 inch lift if I remove the block and that will work with the shackles at 1.5?

OP, yeah I have no idea why they are like that or look that way already.... the tundra leafs are soft in the first place which isn’t great but like Colorado TJ said have you ever overloaded the bed or carry heavy loads often?

also as for a 1” leaf pack no clue I only know of aftermarket ones being 1.5” or more I’m ordering a new leaf packs when I get my truck back on Monday lol

Nope. Only a few bags of concrete from Lowes. It just weird that the gap is only on that side.

The front and rear where the isolators are? They are both there.

Yeah those springs are shot. Tundra leaf springs are super long and don’t have much arch in them to begin with. Any sort of block... even that piddly thing you messed with obviously will ruin them. Shackles will do it too.... every keeps telling me I’m crazy but I see it constantly.

How does it happen on only one side though? Alot of guys have Toytec or Coachbuilder shackles and don't have issues like this.

Hard to say why only one side. If the spacer started walking out on you, it could have been loose enough to cause damage.

This also could have compounded some axle wrap that was happening due to the spacers.

To compound the problem even more, when someone puts extended shackles on, it reduces the spring rate. How many times have you heard on here that after installing the shackle lift the truck rides better? That’s why. I put a set of coachbuilder shackles on my 2012 Tundra. They worked great for everything but towing. I went backwards with my build in that department.

My theory is that because the block moved out from underneath the leaf springs were no longer solidly sitting on the axle perch allowing it to see-saw in a way that when the truck flexed or just cycled the suspension it was more than it could handle and therefore bending the top leaf and giving it more arch. Imagine the axle going down (away from the frame) and then the leaf spring begin to see-saw (pointing downwards) and the top leaf is hanging on for dear life at the shackles.
