Work VPN is down. Office is being remodeled too (separate issues). No, I won’t be driving 45 min into the office to find a remote desk. ZFG!

 

Back at work today. First day back after the 9 day stretch to pad the check with OT, so only 5 days off. I know. I'm so picked on. Funny thing is, I feel like I had more time off, better rest, and got more done in that 5 days that all my previous 7 day stretches. Call me crazy, but 7 days off might be too much....... Yeah, sounds crazy to me too!

 

Want to work for me two days a week?

 

It'd be two days every other week, but if I can make my current OT wage, then I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to it on the day shift side of things. I am not sure how it would go on the night shifts though.

 

Is OT double time or time and a half for you?

 

Only time and a half. I wish I got double time, but can't complain about it either way.

Nah. My job is pretty cushy, and I almost feel overpaid, so no complaints.

No no. Not offended at all. I just don't get super deep into details on the interwebs is all. I am super lucky to have my job as I was in no way qualified for it, but I've been learning what I can along the way. It sure beats the hell out of driving a truck for a lying, petty, vindictive, micromanaging narcissist like I was before this position. After 6 months in the position I was making just shy of 50% more an hour too. I love my job.

I've always said fake it till you make it, sometimes it actually works out for the best... sometimes.
I know It's hard to find a job that you like, and that pays enough to put food on the family. Congrats man

 

Nope. It's nothing exciting like that. There is some troubleshooting and problem solving that I really like digging into and enjoy, but I'm also not working with the public. That shit sucks.

Fake it 'til you make it has helped me survive the last 10+ years in more ways than one!

Don't get me wrong, I'd way rather be flying helicopters for a living, but if you can't have your dreams come true then not hating your job is a solid consolation prize. Just gotta feed me and pay for my toys. No family to worry over.
