What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Yep, so far so good! And I installed it just in time because it’s been getting cold here in the mornings. Really easy install too.

I got one for my wife’s Highlander as a surprise for Christmas because she does the neighborhood school car pool in the mornings. Hoping that’s as easy as my Tundra was. I just gotta figure out an excuse to tell her why I’m tearing up the inside of her car lol.

 

Just pick up a cabin filter and tell her you're needing to pull the dash apart to get to it.

 

Do they make one for a Tundra with an old fashioned key?

 

I installed one in my wife at the times Highlander. It's a 2015 with the smart key. It was much easier than the Tundra. Problem is the engine shuts off as soon as you open the door to get in. Based on my research at the time there is no fix for this.

Just picked up a Leitner rack but really wanting a Smartcap.
Very happy with the quality of the Leitner rack, but wanting the security and weatherproofing of a Smartcap. Go snowboarding a lot in the winter and it'd be nice to know I can lock my bag/gear in the back when snowboarding without it being messed with or snowed on.

 

Just replaced my battery. Superstart platinum from oreillys only lasted 10 months, exchanged for a redtop

 

Received my t slot nuts for my bed rails so I can start making my holders for my recovery boards. This also happened just after freeing a stuck John Deere pro gator.

 

My wife’s is a 17 with the smart key/push start. Good to hear it’s not a pain to install! Sucks that it shuts the vehicle off when you open the door. Hopefully they’ll find a fix for that in the future.

 

Yeah man mine is the G key. It’s the regular key with a detached key fob, not the key with the built in fob.

 

That’s genius! I was gonna tell her some bullshit like I was replacing a relay on her turn signal stalk lol.

 

This is exactly the reason i want the smartcap, i like the idea of secure storage. and i can still mount my boards on the top.

Yeah, the more and more I think, the more and more I am leaning towards selling the leitner for a smartcap. Sort of jumped in quick on the leitner since I wanted something above can height to mount my RTT too (since longer than the bed) but think for my use, the smartcap is definitely the better option

 

One of the best mods I did along with the grab handle, I enjoy it everytime I drive.

I know some people don’t think the Tundra seats are comfortable, but I’ve never really had a problem. Are these an improvement even for those who don’t have an issue with stock?

 

such a simple mod that makes such a difference.

 

It pushes the front bottom of your seat up an inch under your knees. It's amazing. I never thought the seats were uncomfortable they were just declined in the front.

My OCD.....the tri color stripes are opposite of the center caps......that's just me.

 

Didn't even notice but having that V8 awesome.

 

Installed a power lock actuator in the tailgate. Instead of using the Toyota part or pop lock kit (~$250 CAD) I used another thread on this forum to DIY one with a $5 Amazon actuator, and 20' of wiring. Took about 1hr and works great.

I also started painting a few pieces on my new truck. Getting rid of some interior chrome, and painting the tow hooks red.
