What did you guys do on your 2 corner clips on the hood bulge when you installed your S8? On my first bulge I ended up removing them completely because they were hitting the bar no matter where the bar was installed in the opening. The corners would stick up a little when it gets hot outside. I bought a new bulge a few months ago and finally started messing with it today. As I did with the first one, I reused the screen portion of the factory scoop. I did some trimming of those 2 clips but have not removed them completely as of yet. They are hitting the bar as well. Very frustrating. Right now I have the new bulge sitting in the garage. I screwed it in and then put JB Weld on the non-screwed edge so that it gives it some solid support. Is there any way to secure those 2 corners to keep them from lifting in the heat? This is what is left of the 2 clips and a pic of the JB Weld. Not much strength left in them.

I’m interested to hear a solution on this as I’m close to purchasing the S8 for hood bulge with screen left in. I just think it looks better with the screen. Have you called SDHQ to ask about a possible solution? Hopefully, you hear something soon!

It’s blocks wayyy too much light with the screen on. On my 16 I trimmed the plastic mesh to cover the end caps

I have not tired this so I could be completely wrong but could you move the bar any further back into the scoop? Trim out more of the supports on the hood side instead of on the grille?

So, if he were to leave the screen off, this problem would be a non-issue?

No but it also does not help, since it takes up space.
The big issue is the hood bulge is loosing contact points with the corners of the hood and once they are removed the plastic can move in the heat- no real way around it.

best I found was 3m industrial strength double sided tape. Ran it all along the bulge corners and cleaned the hell out of the hood- smashed that sucker down on there and replace the tape when it fails

So yes the screen does block the light, however after playing with the new bulge the other day, when I reinstalled the bar I now have a lot more of the light on the road surface. I will get pictures of it in the dark tonight. As far as the new bulge, I reattached the screen, added JB Weld for strength, and also inserted an aluminum bar it the top section for strength. Maybe it will help with the lifting of the corners, maybe not. My bar is as far back as it can go....it was the only way to get it centered from top to bottom of the opening. I installed the screen because I did not like that huge gap between the bottom of the bulge opening and the front of the bar.

Now on the bulge being removed, I am going to mount a mesh screen that I picked up from Lowes. It will allow more light, and I will have to beef up supports for it. Once that is done I will do light comparison pictures between the 2. This whole mess started because of those 2 corner tabs. I just don't see any other way around it other than removing them. I wish there was a way to secure the corners from the inside of the hood lol.

I hope it works, but it sure is making me re-think adding the S8 to the hood bulge…lol

I should be messing with the new one today. Depend on if I get the parts early enough to fix my rear suspension.

@Tundra234 did you connect the amber DRL in the S8 to a switch or tie it into the OEM DRLs?

The harness comes with 2 switches. One is for bar, the other is for the backlight. I swapped them to the Bunny Burner and Raptor switches.

Gotcha. I'm not planning to use either of the switches. I have a Trigger 4 Plus that I'll be hooking the bar power to and I would like to tap into the OEM DRLs to run the DRLs on the bar.
