Ok, new owner after selling my 2009. This truck has sooooo many noise making features that are anti hunting in my opinion.
I got my dealer to shut off the seatbelt alarm but they said thay can't shut off the key beep that seems to come from the front of the truck when I shut the door w the key in my pocket and the truck is still running?
I know the key is in my pocket I don't need the truck to announce to all the wildlife I just got out of the truck. It seems to come from the drivers side front fender area?
Have any of you guys disabled this speaker or taped over it to deaden the sound? And wheres is the dang thing and how to access it?
    Any recommendations?

Was able to turn that feature off through the menu system in the radio. It has no effect on the beep I'm referring to.

That makes sense. The main point was that Carista (or Techstream if you want to deal with questionable software sources) might have additional settings for your 2021 vs what OP in the other thread listed for his 2016. A quick Google search mentions a feature in Carista related to Smart Key exit beeps, but nothing definitive on whether it works or not. I think the beeper speaker is located on the passenger side of the engine bay. You could try to find it and disconnect it, but you might get warning lights. It would be worth a try in your situation I’d say.

Why not leave the key in the car?

I usually leave the key in my pocket to avoid a passenger moving the vehicle. Just habit I guess. Prefer to have it with me just in case.

Andy on Guam has a video on YouTube explaining how to remove the buzzer. I’m not smart enough to link it.

But you did get me pointed in the right direction! Thanks very much for that. His video told me where to find it and now the problem seems to be accesssing that spot. Of course the fender wells are covered in mud today from hunting yesterday. I'm trying to get to it to cover it with tape or something but it is just out of reach from underneath between plow mount and an access hole.
Can these plastic wells be taken out easily? Will the little grommet plugs break so I'll need to have some replacements on hand?

You maybe need different passengers if you’re worried about this. We alway leave keys at the truck so 1) they don’t get lost and 2) they are there in case something emergent happens.

Its not just the passengers. I just ususlly have the key tucked into a pocket and since I got this new truck I rarely take it out.
I did find that if I don't latch the door all the way closed the alarm might not sound. As Andy on Guam points out and I also believe I like to be in stealth mode and there is no reason for anyone to know I'm in or out of my truck for any reason.

    Ok. Resolved.
FYI so there are three 10mm bolts that can be removed just above the bumper in the fender well and it gives you direct access to the noisemaker. Just to try the least agressive resolution I placed a bit of quality duct tape over the speaker. This deadens the beep so it is hardly noticeable above the massive roar of the engine. I'm going to try this and see if it is all thats neccesssary before any other attempts.
Thanks to Andy of Guam for getting me the location on drivers side just below the headlight.

You have the car running and the car is beeping letting you that you left the car with the key on you and that the car is still on. If there was a passenger, they could easily get into the driver seat and still move the car since the car is already running. Does the smart key kill the engine when it detects that someone wants to drive the car but the key is not in the car?

Well you ask a good question. When the wife gets back we going to experimant on this.
You know coming from a 2009 I've got some habits I may need to make adjustments to. I did figure out the beep trouble and am testing the duct tape solution when I go hunting tommorrow. In the driveway it seems silent enough but what about in the silence of the deep woods? As long as it doesn't jump the grouse I'm trying to get I'll be happy.

Glad you found a solution. I keep reading stories of how people keep their cars running with these keyless keys and then something bad happens. Don't know if Toyota has fixed it with smart key so it would be interesting to find out. Otherwise, a car running with the key in or out would still be the same as the old car with key in ignition and running.

I have had my wife get out of the car with her key in our ES (letting her out at the store front entrance) and I'll drive off and park, not realizing until I shut off the car and then can't lock it or restart. I imagine the Tundra works the same

Look up Andy of Guam on YouTube he has a lil vid on how to disconnect it. You can just silence it with tape pretty easy. Drivers side just under the headlight. Access is easy from that wheel well and take out the three 10mm screws holding the plastic wheel well in place and you can see the little gray noismaker . Put a thick piece of tape over the speaker hole on the front and you can just barely hear it from the growl of the engine. Not nearly as annoying.

And yes even though the key is in my pocket wife could still get in the truck and drive off w it. She says just an alert came up on the dash that key is not detected. Still able to drive away.
