Hi folks, my 2004 Tundra exhaust system needs replacing, hoping to hold onto the twin catalytic converters to pass the emissions test.

Anyway, I was going to purchase a cat-back system but I noticed that they don't appear to start from the catalytic converters but further back. Was looking at Gibson, for example.

I don't know much about this stuff but does anyone sell true cat-back-systems? Mine is pretty far gone and needs replacement. I reckon I can purchase piecemeal but would probably be cheaper if the entire assembly was sold as a kit.

    Thanks!

A custom exhaust shop will make one for you around $1k or a little over in 409 stainless steel.

I probably don't need stainless steel for this guy but from what you are saying it sounds like it's now a custom product rather than off-the-shelf.

Or, maybe get the best deal on a cat (not!) back system and have a custom shop do the rest up to the cats.

I would price it out first by shopping around. Custom shops tend to give you a better deal if they sell you the whole cat back rather than you supplying it. I would definitely get your own stainless 02 bungs since the aluminized steel doesn't last long in rusty climates.
