I currently have a 2016 SR5 Crewmax with approximately 50,000 miles that is almost paid off. I've found a 2022 4Runner that I'm considering trading for.

I love my Tundra and it would probably be a mistake getting rid of it but I have always wanted a 4Runner. 20200530_191545.jpg

Depends on your needs. Obviously you do not drive a lot with only 50,000 miles on the Tundra. I would say pay it off and have 7-10 years of no payments and a awesome truck. My wife has a 4Runner and both are nice but the Tundra feels much more solid to me.

Really depends on your needs. But the best cars I've ever owned are the ones that were paid off. :)

As others stated it depends on your wants and needs.
Also depends on your physical size.

    I had a 1997 4Runner for 8 years and loved it.
Raised 2 small kids in it.

    Then a 2005 Tundra and now a 2014 Tundra.
I considered a Tacoma when I bought my 2014, same chassis and interior room as a 4Runner.
But it seemed so cramped and small inside.
Also given I'm a few pounds bigger now than when I had the 4Runner...:eek2:

I love the look of the current 4Runners, but I need a bed.
Although I rarely use it, great to have when I need it.
Nice to have to room to spread out too.

@Johnykim makes the best point, it sure is nice not having a vehicle payment..
I plan to keep my 2014 7 to 10 more years and pay cash for my next (hopefully) Tundra.

Slightly used Tundra with no payment VS New 4Runner with a payment

I’d keep the Tundra if it were me

I cant figure out just which ledge we are talking about here?

Better to have a Toyota by mistake than not to have a Toyota by mistake.

On the other hand if you are about to pickup a big payment vs having a paid off truck I still dont understand that logic and have not heard any arguments that would sell me there at all.

Go test drive a 4Runner if not already. With the current high resale values, you could do really well with the low milage on your Tundra, maybe keeping your new payoff fairly respectable.
