Cringe...a post about oil (I know, I know)

Firstly, let me say I am familiar with proper oil level check procedure from the manual, and I use that.

I have a need to spot check without being able to start the truck and use the factory procedure.

Question: if you know your oil level is correct using the proper procedure in the manual, and have ever looked at your 5.7 oil level when cold for several hours and vehicle is level, where is it on the dipstick?

    Thanks!

Always appears to be a bit low, about 2/3 of the way between the two dimples.

Have never seen my level touch the top dimple, even the morning after I change the oil. Always add a full 8 quarts, a few ounces more than the spec, when I change.
