I installed the Fyre Flys brand LED interior lights yesterday. Ran into a problem though, curious if anyone else has had this happen. I started with the driver side map light and as I was attempting to push the bulb into the socket I must have pushed too hard and lifted the socket out of the point where it doesn’t make contact. I pulled the overhead console down and tried to repair it. But it looks like part of the circuit is broken. Is there a quick fix or do I need to purchase a new overhead console?

If it's broken probably need to replace.
check some junk yards for totaled ones

Not sure of the schematic's but soldering jumpers might generate functionality again to provide continuity and 'complete' the circuit ~ theoretically*

Thought about trying to solder a jumper.

yeah, I mean, what's the worst that could happen? It wont work?

Second thought on that, could create a short / surge and blow a fuse...? or something else? Just speculating here but these things happen

Wish I could do better than this, but keep searching. There’s a thread somewhere and there’s a fix or two for this. Same thread also was helpful when I installed the rest of my interior LEDs. I just wish I could remember what the thread was but I was looking for help, just try “interior LEDs” and it should be one of the bazillions that come up

When I did mine, I tried inserting the bulb cross wise and crushed the contract. Lesson learned for me...check direction of bulb contacts.

Luckily, I was able to bend it back into place and get it to work. Battery was disconnected the whole time.

I did the same thing on mine, but was able to repair it once I took the console down.

Happened to me too. I used one of these to pull and align the loose contact while pushing the led bulb up. Once it snaps into place, the pick is skinny enough to pull out. Make sure you have good lighting while doing this.

Ok thanks for mentioning this option. Mine looks as if the contact has broken. Did yours look as if it broke? And then you fixed it?

Ok thanks I’ll look more closely at what you are describing and compare it with what my socket looks like. I didn’t push that hard in my opinion. If it looks like the welds came loose I’ll try the fix you mentioned.

hard to say. I remember that that metal clip kept shifting to the side and up in when I push the bulb in. So I need way to stabilize it while pushing the bulb. Once the loose metal clip latches on the bulb (all the way in), it didn’t matter being loose because the other metal clip was holding the everything in place.

I had this happen to me today out of the blue. The socket was loose and pushed in (map light). I didn't research how to remove the console and found out about the plastic tabs on the circuits until after the damage was done...

I took a small set of pliers and was careful not to touch anything and started trying to bend the socket back into place while the console was still installed and battery was still connected (I know....I know). Blew the fuse for the dome light as when I flipped the switch from off to on...nothing came on. Then hopped on tundras.com and found out how to remove the console and I fixed the tabs on the circuits near the map light that was problematic.

Then comes the drop of your stomach falling down a roller coaster...the cargo lights don't work. Fuse looks good for the cargo lights, but don't have any spare 7.5 amp fuses in the garage.

Tomorrow- picking up a few 7.5 amp fuses and praying I didn't burn up the body ECU. Also, will dig out my voltmeter to see if I got voltage at the sockets.

I've had LEDs installed for 4 years since buying the truck, but (1) map light rattled loose...now I got a sick feeling in my stomach.

    Yup, I learned my lesson.

I didn't want to thread jack this thread, so I started a new thread with my current issue. Replaced blown dome fuse under the hood, but still don't have cargo lights which I replaced that fuse even though it tested good.

Interior lights came back with replacing the dome fuse which was blown.

Tested the cargo lamp fuse this morning and tested fine with a test light.

After work going to try to test at the switch, then the socket.
