I wonder what kind of performance Toyota could have gotten with this combo.
Re-work the 5.7 with the 3.5TT technology to improve efficiency. Then pair it with the 10 speed. Maybe even decrease it to a 5.0L engine.
At 60mph the RPM would be 1250 or so.
Probably get the same MPG as this new V6 engine.

5.7TT? The fuel mileage would be worse and the truck would be even longer lol

The 5.7 was already paired with an 8-speed in the Land Cruiser. Efficiency was not changed at all. Sure they could tune it differently and add a 10-spd but the 5.7 is what it is. I don't think they could have gotten much more power or efficiency out of it no matter what. Moot point anyways since it is EOL.

The only way you could get more fuel efficiency out of the 5.7 is to put it in a lightweight car like a corvette or a 30-year-old 2wd pickup with a super high axle ratio.

The way the truck market is going in terms of aerodynamics, weight, tire size, horsepower and tow ratings it's an uphill battle for fuel efficiency. Going from a 6 speed to 10 speed transmission will make no difference.

Enjoy the 5.7L for what it is - buttery smooth power delivery. Get a bit more when you disable the nannies and push tow/haul.
