yeah, Tacos do sell a lot. I'm only looking at Tundra because I want a Toyota truck that has ventilated seats, new tech. If they make a Tacoma Platinum with all the luxury features and price at low $50k I'd jump on that Taco for sure

The Taco and 4Runner are supposed to be following the Tundra. Are you dead set on buying soon, or can you hold off for a year or two?

Dang I paid 28k for my 2004 double cab SR5 TSS. Glad I bought when I did!

I can hold off for a few years especially when the market is insane right now, the only problem I see is that Toyota probably won't make a luxury Tacoma or 4Runner as to not step on the toes of Tundra and Sequoia

That's the same as $40,660 in today's dollars.

After the MSRP and spec sheets came out, I opted to move up from an SR5 to a Limited. By the time I added everything I wanted on the SR5 up I was at just over 50k and still needed to add the dual zone climate but didn't know that cost yet. Expected it to push me near 53k. This is assuming the spec sheet I saw with no moon roof option (despite the videos we have seen online), if there actually is one it would push me near 54k. Took the same cab/bed for the Limited and added what I needed for that, priced it at just over 53k. It just had everything in it for the most part so it was just adding things like the tonneau cover, up the sound, add the pano roof. We will see how close I actually get to that once things roll out.

I've saved my entire life to pay cash for my forever car/truck. My heart wants a deluxe Tundra but thrifty ness might direct me to a nice F-150. Toyota needs to get some stock on the lots. I'm not spending $$$ on a promise from a dealer.

I tried to price the F150 to the SR5 and by the time I got them similar, the price was about the same. If you like the Tundra, just go lower trim if buying cash is that important. I am with ya on being smart with my money, but an end of life truck in my eyes isn't something to get thrifty on. To me it's a reward for a life of hard work. If you can pull most of the cost and get the balance with a loan you can cover, go for it. Last thing you want is to be in a truck you settled on and wish you went for what you really wanted and no longer have the means.

Keeping my 2014 for at least 5 to 7 more years..
Maybe I can get a good price on a lightly used Gen 3 at that time...

Sure is nice not having a vehicle payment....:D

About what I expected. Everything is more expensive and prices dont come down.

For reference I bought my 2014 Limited CrewMax 4wd new for $38K. That’s a $14K increase over 8 model years.

I will still buy a Platinum/1794/Pro though. Toyota’s history of reliability is why. They were the first to do hybrid and this new drivetrain isn’t an experiment…its been around for a while and will be fine, so I don't buy the hype on reliability worries.

B/L: No effing way I am giving that much $$ and trust to the domestic 1/2 ton truck makers to risk it sitting in the shop and depreciate like a rock.

I do expect the Pro to top out around $75-80K. For reference, a mildly equipped Raptor starts in the $66 range and jumps to $82K quick.

I’m still waiting to see the 2023 Sequoia remake. I am sure it will be in the $70-80K range.

The good news is that these high 3rd gen prices will pull our 2.5 gens along.

being smart with money would mean not paying cash. The market is paying 4-5x’s the interest the note would cost…. Why dispose of interest collecting capital to avoid a minor interest bearing loan?

Unless they're holding out on a lot of juicy features, I don't think you can compare the Pro to a Raptor (or TRX). It's still more like a Tremor/AT4/Trail Boss/Rebel. Which of those goes for $80k USD?

I’ll definitely be getting a new TRD Pro eventually but it won’t be until my truck is fully paid off. I should be able to get good trade in value in 3-4 years. It’ll allow me to enjoy my current truck until the market settles down a bit. This inflation is killing us all.

The Trail Boss/AT4 come in around $64K…they are actually higher than where Toyota is with the Platinum and 1794.

So by your assessment, the Pro will be same or less price as Platinum and 1794?

64 isn’t higher than the platinum is from the build sheets I’ve seen, once you as the better riding suspension and power step to get into the bed it’s 67

I'd prefer basic trucks with top choice motors and suspension. Basic trail boss with 6.2 is right around 50k, base raptor is now 65k I wish toyota would give us a basic similar option. Hoping the pro is low 60s

I may go with an SR if it's just a tune to unneuter it. Or a base maverick to wait it out a year or so

The dealerships will do this with the new prices as well so it will be the published prices plus what the dealerships can get on top of that.

Yes per TFL the Pro and 1794 are the two flagship trims. One for luxury, the other for off road.

The Pro will be 70+ no doubt.

The "secret" Capstone Trim should also max out the wallet.

And no it is NOT worth it IMO. GMC AT4x with a V8, auto 4wd, and front locker is 75. Assuming the lifter issue is worked out, I'd buy that over a Pro.

The pricing (if Toyota stays consistent with minimal discounts / incentives) certainly does for me. Especially with Pro’s nearly always having ADM.

I am looking at upper trim trucks. So the updated interior on the GMC’s (with huge discounts) and continued refinement with custom packages (with huge discounts) of Rams raises their relative appeal considerably since they will be about $10k less.

And if I’m looking at $70k trucks like the hybrid Platinum / Pro, then it makes the couple grand jump to a new Raptor well worth it as well.

I am still holding out hope for the Sequoia Pro to address some of my gripes (especially the lack of auto 4x4). So I may go the full size SUV route instead of a truck next, and just utilize my snowmachine trailer when needed…… but then again those Yukon AT4’s are GORGEOUS.

I pretty much would be going with the Platinum hybrid with 6.5 ft bed and factory lift kit.
I got two 21' Tundras to sell to fund if needs be.
We are seriously considering down sizing to one vehicle & an ATV :)

Terrible advise in my opinion. Especially if you are taking out anything more than 2-3y by choice to get a newer, fancier vehicle when your existing vehicle is perfectly fine.

There are definitely times and unexpected circumstance that a 4y loan is necessary, but it shouldn't be because a new, flashier vehicle just hit the market and your current one is 3y old and runs fine.

I'm definitely on the No Loan side of things. I can't stand them and living 100% debt free. Anyone can do it if they choose and make smart decisions and lifestyle choices.

To each their own. However basic math says if your lump sum is making more return on investment than you would be saving not paying a car loan's interest. You invest it.

I'd put 50k in the market before putting it in a new truck. #diamondhands
